My partner "sprained" her ankle/foot back in October, she refused to go to the doctor. 3 months later her foot is still hurting, still a bit swollen and she finally goes to the doctor.
x-ray's show nothing, bone scan shows that "something" is wrong
today she goes to a specialist, more x-rays, specialist says she "may" have broken her foot, but nothing is out of place, looks like it has "set" itself ok - so he gives her a prescription order for something called a CAM BOOT - basically a big removable cast
so we go to the medical supply store - they don't have it but can order it (will take about 3 weeks). They were kind enough to call around to some other places. One place had it but doesn't take insurance, another place takes insurance but doesn't have one it stock, 3rd place has it and will take insurance
so we go book it over there - turns out that my partner's insurance is Blue Cross/Blue Sheild major medical so we have to pay for the cam-boot up front then get reimbursed by BC/BS. Ok, so next we ask if they take credit/debit cards - they don't. ATM is just up the road, but before we leave my partner asks how much is the cam-boot so Iknow how much cash to take out of the ATM
$534.00 plus tax. My partner hits the roof, starts arguing with the pharmacist, pleading etc - no go , so we leave and she's crying and yelling all the way home
we get home, she gets on the phone with BC/BS - not much can be done today, they could send forms... sigh....
So after that, my partner is blowing off steam, ranting, raving, bitching, screaming etc. I quietly leave the room and go onto the internet and start running a search for a CAM-BOOT.
Within a half-hour I find a place that carries them - normally $95.00, but they are on special for $75.00!!!! We place the order, and it's reimbursable by her insurance - should be here by next week sometime
