4. Maybe, but try explaining your time to someone outside of the state
Heck, West Wing even did an episode around the idea.

16. I never know what the hell time it is in IN.
But I don't give a damn because I live on the east coast and that is the only time zone in the world that matters.
Be thankful you are not in Ca. They are really out of it.
(just kidding)

17. I personally LOVE it.
The time zone (1/2 year one way 1/2 year the other) is confusing - as are the few areas in the state that are locked in permanently to eastern or central time.

But I have lived in several daylight savings times places. Always had commutes where I was blinded for several days as the day lengthened and shortened ... and suddenly because of the time change would have to go through it again.

When living on the eastern end of the time zone in the summer dark came so very late.

The time change was just jarring to my living patterns.

I love not having to deal with it - and find it novel to try to help friends living outside of the state to navigate our time situation. It is easier, of course, if those folks ever deal with folks in Arizona - they don't do Day Light savings time either.

3. what I found weirdest about Indiana...
was the COMPLETE lack of color in Gary. All color has been drained from the spectrum, its just this sickly gray. Most opressive place I've ever been in, even BREATHING seemed more difficult.

Other than that, a splendid state!

12. I worked in Gary for four
years at the gateway steel complex (the place bombed by "Doolittle" in the new Pearl Harbour movie). I would jog back home to Griffith everyday though the heart of Gary, I never had a problem.

10. It is a splendid state as long as you stay south
of U.S. 30. Born and raised there but haven't been there since 1980.

7. It's also annoying for projecting elections
Edited on Thu Jan-01-04 03:19 PM by goobergunch
As an Penna. (ET) resident, it's rather annoying having to dither between 6 PM and 7 PM for election results in Indiana.

That's right IN Governor's race, I'm thinking of you. ;)

EDIT: Tracked down a map:

19. How in the hell did that happen?
It must cause havoc for the people who live near the areas that are standard time all the time, the areas that do eastern savings time, and the areas that are on central time. What if you live in one, and work in one of the others?

From the looks of that map, you'd have to change your watch three times in a pretty short time if you were to drive through some parts. The southern edge if IN has three different time zones during daylight savings time....or do those blue counties also "spring ahead"?

13. I like not worrying about changing my time!
One time, I traveled to southern Indiana from north central Indiana one time and I asked if the time zone changed because I wasn't sure, and the hotel person said, nope we're on God's time! lol

14. I think everyone else is screwed up, Indy is the smart one.
Only a human could mess up time. My clock is just fine, I see no sence in changing it. I have lived all over America, and Indiana is the only ones to figure it.

18. And Hawaiii - I think I heard
Hawaii doesn't do the stupid time change thing either. What grates on me bigtime is the foolish comments about liking the 'longer day'. The day is no longer; we all agreed to get up an hour earlier.

I'm pretty close to the border, so yes, I know what you mean. It drives me nuts with the TV schedule...

20. Goodland KS in the far NW corner of the state
is on MT time while the whole rest of the state is on Central time. I had family that lived in some small town just outside of Goodland in the Central time zone. Both parents worked in goodland one hour behind. They had clocks in both times zones in the couse with M and C on them.
