REM fans -- check this out.
REM at the 40 Watt Club with Bill Berry where he belongs...behind the drum kit.

This is the REM I called my favorite band...this is the REM that used to rock!

Rock on, boys!

2. Right on, bro
I spent more than a few drunken nights at The 40 Watt (as well as The Uptown Lounge)when one or all of R.E.M. would wander in; this is Gold...

5. Does this mean Berry is coming back?
I hope so. Without him, they've turned into a cross between Dishwalla and Hootie.

6. No. He's happy being a gentleman farmer in Oconee County.
A friend and I were talking outside of Publix the other week and he said hello to her as he walked in carrying a little girl. (She buys hay grown on his land.) He seems very happy to be retired.

16. So does he play with R.E.M. whenever they're in Athens?
Or was this a one-time deal?

17. One time deal. You never know when they might play again though!
They (the three guys left) pop up unannounced now and then and play a few songs or a whole set at various clubs and events! Bill has played at a charity concert and a few other events. They really support local politics and charitable community organizations with their time and money. They are real assests to Athens-Clarke County.

13. I agree -- Their last few albums have sucked big time.
What's with all of the ballads and piano?

I want guitars, bass, and drums!!

15. Amen to that. I haven't bothered with them since "Automatic for
the People" -- and that album was questionable.

I miss the 80s.

he looks well. Glad he is happy. It's refreshing to see them in a small venue - I was never totally comfortable with their giant concerts....

I still love those guys, all these years later. I was looking at one of the first of their eps I bought years ago. Sigh. Wonderful.

also check out Peter Buck playing on Robyn Hitchcock's new CD, Ole Tarantula - they were here not too long ago and I wish I had gone to see them!

thanks!

11. Ole Tarantula refuses to leave my CD player.
My favorite CD of 2006. You don't suppose 'The Authority Box' was written for Bu$h, do ya?

Come on guys give us a rockin' album this year. Please?

I still love 'em, too. :D

10. Oh God, that is awesome!
My sister and I took a side trip to Athens on our way to Augusta two years ago. I thought it was an awesome place. We had a good time although we didn't get to stay very long.

Thanks for posting! :hi:

This is the second time in about a year they got back together. The other time was at a bowling alley wedding of their guitar tech.
