"How do you mend a broken arm...?"
Edited on Mon Jan-01-07 11:30 PM by Tyler Durden
Well, it just wouldn't be the holidays without Tyler's year end HOLIDAY DISASTER.

Walking up to the house on Thursday carrying 50 pounds of assorted stuff in one of those big plastic totes, I tripped on a raised slab in my own front walk, fell and had my RIGHT arm crushed by said tote. The Docs say the operation (scheduled for 4pm Wednesday) involving plates, pins and screws MAY make it possible to move my wrist enough to type with both hands. Left only is pretty frustrating.

Anyway, it's the disabled list por moi until further notice. Any FREEWARE voice/type programs out there?

And by the way: OUCH. Even with massive painkillers, the bones rub all the damn time and HURT LIKE BLOODY FUCKING HELL. I haven't had a decent night's sleep in days.

And how are all of you?

1. Shit, no sympathy out there?
Sure isn't any around my house. Everyone acts like I did it on purpose or something.

2. So sorry to hear about your arm.
Hope the operation go's well.

I had a bad ankle for four months, just now feeling good. Stepped in a hole in my yard. Felt and still feel stupid for doing it.

Take care of that arm:hug:

5. Thanks.
Swollen up like a boiled sausage. They delayed surgery to let it shrink a little. On top of hurting like hell feels really weird when the bones move.

3. I'm so sorry sweetie.
I broke my leg once, and I remember how painful that was. I can't even imagine how annoying it must be to be right-handed and to have your right arm and hand out of commission. I hope they have you on some VERY good pain meds indeed.

How badly did you break it? It sounds pretty awful if it's involving pins and such...

7. Two major breaks and some minor cracks.
ER Doc thought he was a real card: "100 years ago we could just amputate!"

Haw haw. Hear me laugh.

I did the right le about 8 years back; crushed that one too.

Guess I just don't "do" simple fractures.

11. I gotta give it up to that doc
That's a pretty hilariously wrong thing to say to someone in that bad of shape!

He sounds like my kinda doc.

10. Jesus Horace Christ!
Ow. Gawd, I hurt just thinking about that. I busted a bone in my hand once and that hurt like a mofo. The worst part was not being able to do so many things with the cast on. Not minor stuff like swimming, but basic stuff like making a sandwich.

Hope your surgery goes well and you feel better soon.

12. OUCH
I feel your pain. I've done that. A game of touch-football gone awry. I crushed my arm under my body. Yeah, the pain the first 3 or 4 days is pretty awful at times. I learned to tie my shoes with one hand after a couple of weeks. Bathing, eating, pretty much anything was torture. Sorry to hear you need surgery. :(

Get better soon.

14. Just milking another day's sympathy out of this.
Besides, NO ONE in my extended family has so much as called.

Oh well. Tomorrow we cut and paste. Sure will beat feeling the broken ends grate, and I might actually be able to type with the right.

15. Sorry I missed this last night
in bed early and up even earlier in the morning. :(

That's terrible about your arm. I'm glad surgery is tomorrow and you'll be on your way to healing up. What a way to end the year.

16. Probably no freeware voice rec SW. That's massively complicated software.
And by the way, painkillers work much better if you wash them down with about six ounces of vodka.
