Trailer Park Home Owners Are Set To Become Millionairs
<snip>

BRINY BREEZES, Fla. -- Joke all you want about living in a mobile home. A group of Floridians in Briny Breezes doing just that may soon be having the last laugh -- all the way to the bank.

Their community sits on oceanfront land just south of Palm Beach. It's the kind of land that makes developers drool -- so much so that an offer is on the table that could make the trailer owners overnight millionaires.

The nearly 500 owners have until next week to decide whether to accept or reject a $510 million offer. A two-thirds majority is needed.

Many residents are all for it -- like the guy who paid $37,000 for his trailer nine years ago and would now make about $800,000. But several said they'll be sorry to see their little community go.

1. I can understand the "sorry to see the community go"
crowd, but $800K is a LOT of money. If it we're me, we'd be out of there in a heart beat, but I can see some people, older people who maybe feel like they have their pensions and don't NEED the money and don't like change, and whose social lives might revolve around the neighborhood, wanting to stay put.

For a family like mine, $800K is a life changing amount of money, so we'd do it.

it would be selfish to deny the others the chance at an easier life.

Their community will never be the same no matter what happens now. Either they scatter with the money, or they stand pat and live with the intense resentment that would now infect the community.
