2. Can't say I blame her
I don't know what possesses Neanderthals to pull crap like this.

Once I was doing crowd shots at a ball game, and this teenage punk jumped up and started doing the arm-waving "woohoo" bit. I hollered at him, "Get the FUCK out of the way!"

:grr:

Amazing how a camera can bring out the worst in people.

19. Agree completely. The guy was an asshole.
Gee, thanks for letting me do my job, asshat.

And for everybody who thinks it's just a big laugh riot, let me assure you, as someone who's done a similar job, it isn't. It's not funny at all.

3. Most of it was stupid/funny
The last move may have been more of a criminal assault. Or theft. It's on tape, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's a little community service in that guy's future.

10. I thought she went to go after the guy...
Didn't hear enough of the noises at the very end, nor did the cameraman bother to aim the lens at the action to see who was doing what. But the scream was clearly hers and it sounded like an act of aggression, not one of fear or pain.

In our society, those who pull the first punch are the troublemakers; those who do the anger-inducing antics are entirely innocent. :eyes: Unless you make the antics to a police agent, oh then it's always the other way around. :D

But if it was the skinhead who did the attacking - lock him up.

5. I saw one female reporter at a July 4th event in Hartford, CT
who was practicing before a live shot. People were being mildly intrusive, but nothing really bad. She was really yelling at them, being rude, dismissive and quite frankly haughty, talking down to them and stuff.

As soon as the shot went live, the crowd let her have it, rushed her, went in front of the shot, screamed, waved their hands. Pretty much ruined the whole thing. She stomped off to the van cursing the whole way.

If she had only been a bit nicer I think the crowd would have given her a break.

8. Well, he has every right to be there too...
Disrespectful, he was... but such dumb activity can be seen and heard with any local news. Cars honking, people doing bunny ears, whatever -- When will the newspeople fathom it out that one does not HAVE to be at the scene of a crime to say "A crime happened here" and open themselves to people being... let's face it... people by doing the bunny ears, trifling dances, and so on?

I could care less if the newslady in the hot pink and perky there did her report in the middle of a Chuck'e'Cheeze arcade restaurant.

11. I concur; until the muddled and unseen ending, I was ROTFLMAO
If only the cameraman turned the camera to that direction, we'd know it all.

Funny how the media works: For victims of crimes, we only see the actual violence and nothing that leads up to it. This video is the other way around, nor do we know who made the first punch. (and if she ignored him...)

Plus, if the guy did assault her at the end, that was very stupid given there's a muscled-up cameraman right there as well.

Weird.

That may make him an asshole but that is his right.

16. No, he doesn't
When his being an asshole affects someone else, he loses the right to be an asshole.

22. Yes he does.
Whine about it all you want but the news crew has no more right to use that street than he does. Period.

If there is some obscure law that gives the news crew special rights please cite that law, otherwise you have no leg to stand on.

23. There are laws against harrassment, yes
If you want a specific statute, I can't oblige you as I don't happen to have a law library at hand.

You keep talking about the right to use public property, which misses the point. I'm talking about the right to do one's job, whether on a public street or in the basement of one's own home, without someone willfully interfering. That, I believe, is harrassment.

18. You mean on camera reporters are HUMAN?
I can't BELIEVE THAT!

I'm kidding, of course. I think it's so funny how we are so predisposed to having the image of an on-camera reporter as poised and almost robotic that we're shocked - SHOCKED! - when one actually demonstrates flaws.
