Thank gawdess that a larger percentage of people are at least coming to their senses a bit on the war and on * and his lack of leadership and gross mismanagement of our country.

Off to the Hague! That would be my dream, but it isn't going to happen.

4. I am what I am.
I'm not going to try and be anything else. I'm too old for that shit. I may be far from perfect but for the most part I'm happy with who and what I am.

I rock...and if that sounds immodest, well...tough.

24. Heh...work is almost a respite these days.
There's no kitchen here, just a breakroom. And as long as I only go in the one up here, there's no stove.

I've been bad, though...#1 son gave me the new Legend of Zelda game for Christmas, so guess what I've been doing for the past week.

I've been playing Twilight Princess and there's one place where, if you beat the chicken long enough, you turn into the chicken. And there's another place I was playing last night -- I forget what it was, but it was kinda fun. Didn't DO anything, but it was fun.

in fact it is quite intriguing

I think it is cool that people on here do all kinds of things and yet we can all talk, relate, share, and we all espouse liberal leanings about things.

Besides, does anyone here think I would be annoyed with an "exotic entertainer"?

27. It's just that
sometimes I carry a bit of a chip on my shoulder about it- I tend to get defensive because you never know who's gonna try and attack you about it next. It's one of the last professions where it's ok to "bash" the person no matter what side of PC you're on.
I just feel as if I've gotten on a couple of ppl's nerves about it here. No big deal.....

33. Yes, I'm back in effing school.
:eyes: :P

Only two weeks to go until they drop the midterms on us. :grr: I hate midterms. Plus, this week was shaping up to be an okay one (off-lab study hall today AND tomorrow ), and now it's just gonna be a major suckfest because of this stupid acting presentation I've got to do by Friday, essays that I THOUGHT we weren't going to have to do after all in American History, and a ridiculously hard quiz in algebra that's coming up.

But the holiday was okay! Didn't really ask for anything, so I didn't really get anything in particular, though I DID get a new CD player and a number of gift cards. I figure I can get two more 'Dan CDs with my Borders money and then raid the smaller "indie" bookstores I now have gcs for when it comes to books. One of my friends, whose 16th b-day was 12/24, has over $130 dollars in gcs to Borders alone--people kept giving her cards for her b-day. :D

How 'bout you? You hangin' in up theah in Bangah? :D

:hi:

40. Nothing pleases like giftcards!
I could spend $130 at Borders in fifteen minutes.

My holiday turned out to be quite all right. My parents were here and their presence normalized what might otherwise have been a tense time, given the state of my "married" life. Although we are very short of cash my kids pronounced it to be the best Christmas ever (!) so that worked for me.

I don't envy you your presentations and midterms. In HS you find yourself involuntarily studying all sorts of stuff that doesn't hold your interest. Later on, you can pick and choose what to learn and it becomes a real pleasure.

 Nice to see you. But NO MORE STEELY DAN! J/K.

13. Substitute "who" for "what" ?
Proud to be "who I am", i.e. a public school teacher and member of the teachers' UNION, even though we have been vilified* by the conservatives for destroying the nation's schools and children's lives in general.

*(You know, we run around teaching them all about gays while passing out condoms and ritalin! And we fight to keep all those incompetent teachers in the classroom, because they have "tenure." Amazing, isn't it, that we still have time to meet the demands of NCLB!)

20. A free growing woman, a writer, a jazz lover even if I cannot play it, a dirty liberal.
A strong soul when it counts: a tough old seagull skimming along waves just beginning to be touched by sunrise.

A writer, a spinner of words: somebody trying to make the ordinary into the stuff of legends, and the stuff of legends into the ordinary--somebody trying to transcend life by becoming immersed in it.

A jazz lover: a lover, a simple connoisseuse of the music of America, of music and tradition and feeling born of agony--of slavery, of rejected love, of addiction--and of freedom--of women, of blacks, of all humans from tradition. A lover of life.

A "dirty liberal"--a freethinking nontheist, a hippie, somebody who prefers peace and understanding to war and hatred, somebody who loves the arts, who loves now rather than the vague promises of tomorrow, who seeks idealism through attempting to be pragmatic, who is trying to learn to love those who disagree rather than hate and fear them.

Just another speck on the universe's canvas, is all--just another drop in the ocean, without whom, nonetheless, the ocean would be different.

Or something pretty like that. Whatever it is, it sounds pretty in my head. :D
