Any loungers swim as your principle workout?
I'm getting into reasonably good (swimming) shape again, roughly 3k yards x 5 days a week.

Just kind of wondering if anyone else swims for fitness and/or ever competed, etc.

1. Swimboy does
I have at various times, but am currently not. I did swim competetively when I was growing up. 3K is a good work out, so I :applause: you for the consitency in your workouts it takes to build up to that many yards.

:yourock:

:hi:

2. Given cold mornings and cold water
it's amazing I still like to do it at all. But it's the only thing the old bones tolerate well, so that's part of it.

Swim boy, huh? I've been on DU for a years--but very little over last year--and I'm not sure if he and I (or you and I) have ever crossed paths.

Thanks for responding to my little thread. I'll pick you up for work out at 5:30 tomorrow AM, OK?

 :silly:

6. I don't know
if I replied to either you or Swimboy before, but I have read posts by both of you. He posts in the exercise and fitness forum/group sometimes about swimming.

5:30 AM is a time you would likely be banging on the door until you got bored and wandered off on your own; I try not to get up before the crack of noon :P

I have a love-hate relationship with swimming; I enjoy it, but I'm so out of shape it depresses me more than inspires me. I'd like it more if I didn't have to put in all the time and effort to get back in shape...

3. I used to, but now I do deep water aerobics
which requires treading water the whole time while doing jumping jacks, cross-country ski motions, running motions, and other aerobics moves. It's a class that meets three times a week. I do it because I have bad knees, and this kind of exercise is easier on the joints.

4. I swim across lakes for fun
don't use it as my principle workout though because it's not weight-bearing

7. Not real practical in Minnesota in the winter
even though we have plenty of lakes. (I have two within walking distance.)

But I suppose it's okay in Texas. :-)

9. I Used To Swim
in high school some

I swam on the team but I wasn't that fast

I love to swim, but my ears get infected really easily. Odd thing considering I'm supposed to be an adult and have Eustachian tubes.

It is great exercise and I may try getting into it again.

right now I stairmill, elliptical, and stationary bike mostly.

Weight training as well.
