I'm so cold...so cold...
You know you're cold when a mug of hot chocolate and a potato burrito with picante sauce only keeps you lukewarm inside.

Seriously, I need to reach up and put my jacket on, but I'm also too sleepy to get up.

And this is at my office at work. I feel for poor Bob Cratchit, having to do without a lump of coal. We have central heating, sure, but we're at the mercy of the thermostats, and I have to call Engineering to come adjust them, because I don't know how.

So, for the time being, I'll just sit here and be cold. Maybe I should cue up Tom Waits on iTunes. Hold On would be a good choice right now.

1. my gas was out this am
but it's fairly warm here (I mostly work at home)so it wasn't too bad.So you have my sympathy.

Maybe you need some of those athletic undergarments that adjust to different temps....

2. Actually, I need thermals...
I do have an undershirt and boxer briefs from Under Armour, and they have come in very handy at Camp Casey in terms of keeping me warm and comfy on Good Friday evening. But even the warmest boxer briefs only cover so much.

When there's ice outside, I break out the long johns. While everyone else is running around in parkas and oversized hoodies, I'm walking around in a collared shirt and khakis, and I'm quite comfortable, especially if I've got a hat, because I've taken to wearing my hair rather short. (I used to keep it long until El Nino finally drove me into Supercuts.)

6. I bought my brother some Under Armour for X-mas
(or some name like that) They were expensive for "underwear" as my brother put it.

7. Two Words:
Silk Longjohns... (Sounds more like three words. :headscratch: )

Seriously, my folks bought me some for skiing... I actually wear them under
my usual wool thermals.

When it's like it is around here lately, I wear them under my work clothes
also. Dress pants are notoriously poor insulators.

But, they're hardly noticeable, don't cause any the usual loss of movement like
a full set of woollies.

Keep it in mind.

:)

9. Yup--I got some silk "ladies" longjohns a few years ago....
For a brief non-skiing trip to a Colorado ski resort.

I live in Houston, which is not known for cold weather. Heavy woolen clothing would be eaten by moths or go out of style before it was worn out. But we do get the occasional cold snap. So the silk goes on under my "regular" clothes; over my pantyhose, of course!

A very wise investment.

3. The next time you
call to have the heat adjusted, ask how to do it yourself. Or, does your company have a rule against anyone except Engineering adjusting it?

4. Invest in a small space heater to go under your desk..
or at least some of those handwarmers you can stick in your pockets and shoes.

Then again you could go into GD and start a thread about smoking or breastfeeding..the flames you'll get should keep you nice and toasty.

5. Hmmmm.... the rise of Global warming corresponds to the rise
of the Internet - maybe you're on to something.

10. I work nights
and I swear, the Powers That Be forget that there are a whole bunch of us that do. They set that thermostat so that it drops at 5 p.m. During the week it's not so bad...but on Saturday nights, when the heat doesn't kick back in during the day, it's FREEZING in there. I carry a sweater with me, wear sweaters and sweatshirts to work I've gone so far as to ask Santa for a space heater (which he doesn't ever bring me and they tell me I can't use anyway because of all the paper up there) and I keep a package of those hand-warmer thingies that outdoorsey-types use in the winter when they're doing their outdoorsey-type thingies.

Average Saturday night temperature in there is 63 degrees or lower.

Brrrrrrr...
