Cheney attacks Drake Hogestyn of Days of Our Lives

TMZ has obtained a restraining order filed by veteran "Days of Our Lives" actor Drake Hogestyn against a man he says assaulted him in his home on New Year's Eve, and "physically tried to exorcise the devil from me."

Hogestyn, who has played John Black on NBC's "Days" for over 20 years, says he was with his family in the backyard of their Malibu home when Carl Raymond Cheney of Portland, OR came onto his property and ran at his daughter carrying a bible screaming "Where is he? I will cast him out!" Hogestyn says Cheney was "calling me by my stage name... recalling past storylines, especially the demonic possession of several years past. But more important, he thought I was dead, because the show that aired on Friday 12.29.06 left my character John Black shot & presumed dead."

Hogestyn, who was on a ladder painting his house, says Cheney grabbed and pushed his wife backwards on their patio stairs. At that time, Hogestyn "grabbed him by the hair, spun him around, delivered a right cross to the chin that sent him down the stairs." According to the restraining order the struggle continued for 10 minutes until Hogestyn and his 25-year-old son Ben were able to subdue Cheney by duct-taping the intruder's hands and feet until police arrived.

Cheney was transported to the L.A. County Jail where he is still in custody on $150,000 bail. According to the court documents, a map with directions from Portland to Hogestyn's home were found in the front seat of Cheney's car.

it looks like alot of the cast from the 80s is back (or has been back recently)?

Matthew Ashford, Steven Nichols, Mary Beth Evans, Judi Evans Luciano, Melissa Reeves, Arlene Sorkin--they were soooooo good.

Remember when Kayla lost her hearing? I learned sign language watching those tapes over and over again.

Maybe I should start watching this again . . . hummmmmm . . . .

Judi Evans has been back for a while, but not as Adrienne. Which is just as weird as the Roman/Chris thing.

Steve and Kayla are back and a powerhouse couple! If you're a Steve and Kayla fan, definitely tune in.

13. I really liked that whole Johnson family storyline back in the 80s.

I just loved Steve and Kayla. They were so "romantical!"

I've watched DOOL off and on since the 60s, when my grandmother got me hooked, so I remember allllll the characters--Macdonald Carey, Francis Reid, Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes, Robert Clary, Peggy McCay, Suzanne Rogers, Leann Hunley, Thaao Penghlis (gorgeous!)--you know, they're all pretty darn good, and they seem more "classy" than a lot of soap actors. I'm not real crazy about the newer actors I've seen over the last several years, but you know, I'm getting old, I guess.

I remember for a while Stephen, Mary Beth, and Matthew were all on "General Hospital" at the same time, and Judi was on another soap at the same time--it was very confusing to turn on the tube and see them but not playing their "real" roles!

I just saw on IMDb that they've done over 10,000 shows--unbelievable.

I may just have to tune in--darn, I wish I'd known this last week, or I'd have watched when I was on vacation.
