Edited on Thu Jan-04-07 01:57 PM by jus_the_facts
....left all alone...obviously locked up...and barkin' his poor head off over there...it HAD settled down some but the idiot woman just HAD to come home for lunch and got it worked up again...doesn't make me want to be very neighborly either. :grr:

1. I'm guilty...
My dogs bark at any excuse, and because I have a doggy door, if something's going on in the backyard, at ANY hour, they're outside in a heartbeat, checking it out and "making comments".

They probably need better training on when to bark, but my animal training skills are nil. I should have stuck with cats... but husband wanted dogs.

9. Same here
I just came from a thread where someone posted a painting of their dog and I mentioned how good it made me feel to see posts like that.

I guess there' a bit of Nazi, or something, in me, because if it were up to me people would not be legally allowed to own an animal as a pet without a board approved license. In a perfect world, with perfect judges, the same would hold true for people having children.

Too many pet owners and too many parents simply do not deserve the priviledge.

10. I can sympathize with your situation and
I'm sorry you have it.

I just have to say, your graphic cracked me up. I laughed out loud. I might use it one time if I ever get around to posting a thread about my computer CONSTANTLY freezing up on DU.

2. Perhaps you should be neighborly and describe what happened.
If the woman understands that her lunch visit is keeping her dog from settling down to the new routine maybe she won't do it again.
My sister, when young and stupid, had a puppy who was left alone all day and the poor thing barked its head off. Neighborly types turned her in to animal control and after two citations my sister realized that she couldn't handle the responsibility and she found a better home for the pup.

4. Sigh...I just hate to have to start off the new year with this situation....
....the owners of these apartments are fundie assholes who didn't want to buy me a new fridge when the last freak that lived here had left a freezer full o'meat that ruined it...smelled like ROADKILL all up in here and they tried to tell me it wasn't THAT BAD...they don't even manage these either..they pay a realtor to do it for them and he couldn't care less...just PAY UP and DEAL with it...left me and my cats without any A/C last summer for over 24 hours too before somebody finally came to replace the old one...SIGH. :(

5. Sure you weren't in Dallas,
and your landlord's name is Wanda Cash? I've been there. So sorry you're going through this!

7. Thanks....I guess the baby finally barked itself to sleep...
....its cries are like daggars in my chest...guess I'm too sensitive to other people's insensitive treatment of their pets...it's gotta be closed in the bathroom as the barks are comin' from the same area. :(

12. Why not be 'neighborly' and offer to dogsit during the
day to keep the pup company. The dog gets attention it needs, the owner gets to feel that somebody cares for something more than complaining and you (and the other tenants) get some peace and quiet.

....no other people to bother besides me and my cats...I haven't complained yet...and for all intents and purposes...shouldn't have to.

6. Arm's length owners are the worst.
The last rental we had was advertised as having A/C, and it did -an ancient unit that was broken except for the fan. We pointed this out to the management agent more than once and it was always too hard to reach the owner to get it repaired. Ultimately the joke was on them because we bought the place at the end of our lease and took back a $5000 credit to replace it.

If your new neighbor isn't a dolt she'll realize that you are doing her a favor by letting her know how the dog acts when she's not around.

8. That happened to me on the hottest day we'd had last summer too....
....the one thing I'd liked most about this apt. is that it WAS the quietest I'd ever lived in..only one neighbor beside me...no one above or below...set off the road w/o much traffic noise either...realitvely affordable with really nice ammenities...sigh...makes me quite sick to have to say anything at all as I won't have anything nice to say....thanks for the replies and advice regardless. :)
