Didja ever check your states unclaimed property and find money?

I did. I'm putting in a claim for $450 plus.

5. I found a small dividend from Chock Full o' Nuts which my parents never received.

Unfortunately, I don't have their death certificates or S.S.Ns. anymore, and without that, I can't make a claim unless I get a lawyer. I'm their only child, but would have to prove all of this.

Think the amount involved is only about $26.00.

I guess I'll let it draw interest forever for the children of the State of Florida.

7. Yes, several times...

Once the money was mine (small amount). But several other times I found money for people I know -- a couple of times it was significant amounts.

I sometimes go through the lists, find a person with quite a bit coming to them (sometimes it's a lot of modest amounts from several sources that really add up). I then go to White Pages and look to see if the person is listed there. Often the people the state can't find, I find in a few seconds. I call them, tell them about the money and how to claim it.

The last person I called had over four grand coming. The woman kept saying, "Bless you, bless you..."

17. It took a long time and I had to come up with

a lot of documentation, but I eventually shook loose about $1200.00 from the state of California for my husband and his sisters - money belonging to their grandmother who died in 1988. None of the three of them had the time or interest to pursue it, but I looked at it as a challenge that, in the end, was worth it.
