I will be able to visit the flea market (yay!) and a movie this weekend. What should I see?

1. Mystic River, If you haven't seen it yet

great movie, though very dark.

2. Go see "Cold Mountain". You'll love it!

It's a long movie...but, it's very worthwhile. Jude Law was fantastic! Nicole Kidman looked great...terrific costuming and makeup. And, Renee Zellwegger stole the show! (I hope she gets an oscar for her stunning performance.!)

11. Looks like it's a movie for everyone

Love story for the girls, guns and explosions for the boys. I'm going tomorrow nite with Mrs. Ironflange.

20. Just be sure to pee before the show starts.

We went last night...and, we were seated for about 3 hours from beginning to end. (Alright, we got there a little before the show started...and, there were "coming attractions" for next summer!)

But, it is a good movie.

30. Good idea

I so dislike having to get up in the middle of a show (ditto the symphony, the theatre, etc.). It's not like I can put the whole company on "PAUSE" while I go.

4. School of Rock

Saw School of Rock at the cheapie theatre last weekend, and while it's not the greatest film ever, it completely took my mind off the troubles of the outside world for 90-ish minutes. Fun and some laughs... especially if you like the Jack Black.

Last weekend I tried to see LOTR and Cold Mountain and walked out of both after about 15 minutes each, just because I couldn't deal with war, massive casualties, and death for 2+ hours. Enough of that in real life.

Or try the Jack Nicholson/Diane Keaton flick...

7. Seen it

and will buy the DVD. It is a very fun movie. :D It made me fall in love with music all over again. ;-)

5. I thought 'Something's Gotta Give' was OK.

I mean, anything with Nicholson AND Diane Keaton is worth a look.
It is pretty clever.
Amanda Peet is glorious.
And Keaton does a full frontal (for a microsecond, but hey...)
She looks damn good, though.

6. LotR is good...

... but, I've also heard good comments about "Calendar Girls." One can't really go wrong with both Julie Walters and Helen Mirren in the same film.

I agree. "21 Grams" is excellent; saw it today. But "In America" ( saw it Monday) is even better. Really moving. And you'll feel better when you leave the theater.

It's a pretty good movie season.

Peter Fonda at his finest. And it's got bees too! A really fine film. To me, this is what good movies are about. Real feelings of family and the pains one goes through for love.

24. It's not feel good but the BEST performance by an actress

this year (and imho the best performance by an actress ever) is Charlize Theron in a movie called Monster. OMG. It may be hard to find in your area since I think it's in limited distribution but if you can, go see it.

and it's quite possibly the most poignant, heartfelt, and moving film I've ever seen. I'm going to see it again tomorrow with another friend. Simply a beautiful movie.
