I'll try again. Do cat's get dysplasia?
My elderly cat is 14" from his shoulders to the base of his tail. He yaks coming down the stairs in the mornings. I look behind me and his back legs seem locked.

1. I don't have cats but that sounds bad. I would consult a vet.

3. I will be soon. I've learned that doctor's don't always know
what the hell to do. Sometimes it's a best guess. I almost lost my son in 06. I'll be damned if I lose this cat.

4. I know so well how much vets don't know what the hell they are speaking of.
A vet diagnosed my pom to only have six weeks to live back in march of '06 and she is going strong. Still, you need to take your beloved cat to a vet. Is your son doing good? I don't pray, but I wish you and your son and your cat the best!

2. Apparently, it is possible for cats to develop hip dysplasia.
I'd talk with a vet immediately, if I were you. And your thread reminds me that this is something I should ask The Wiley and Excellent Cat Named Ginger's doctor. :hi:

6. Could be a spine issue. Could be arthritis. Is your cat in pain?
My 12 year old cat has terrible arthritis of her spine. When it flares up, it causes permanent nerve damage and her back legs drag. We are trying to manage it with prednisone and she is showing improvement. Weird thing is, she is not in pain.

9. I've thought about arthritis.
I'm going to quit trying to play Vet and take him in to see a real one friday.
