Post here if you don't own a cell phone.
I don't. And I don't have an answering machine either. People look at me like I'm from Zeti Reticuli when I tell them I don't have an answering machine. Are they really all that essential?

1. I don't.
I do have voicemail, though. I shut it off for about two months and that was not a popular choice, gauging from the response I got.

Sometimes I think I should get a cell phone, but, meh. It's not important to me.

3. I don't, but I'm caving and buying one as soon as I have some money.
My roommates decided they don't want a landline when we moved into this place in September, so I need one.

5. me me me me me.. we have an answering machine, BUT
everyone who tries to leave a message always tells me they think it's broken.

It;s not, but it's right in the path to the greenhouse window, and my kitties "re-set" it quite often as they step on the buttons

9. Present and accounted for...
I don't want one, either.

The only way I could see myself wanting one is if I was doing a lot of long distance travelling by car.

10. no cell phone, answering machine, or home internet ...
Edited on Sun Jan-07-07 08:41 PM by Lisa
So far nothing so urgent has come up that I haven't been able to cope, with someone at work taking a message for me, or my getting back to the caller the next day.

I didn't get a credit card until I was 36, either (and I didn't have someone else in my household to do my banking etc. for me).

By the way -- I'm a college instructor -- and I have managed to get around the problem of panicked calls from students by organizing my courses so we've got procedures worked out well ahead of time, if people need extensions or have crises that keep them from attending classes or exams. For example, just giving out a fill-in form for a "no-fault extension", one per student per term, has reduced the number of late excuses substantially. This seems to be encouraging people to get more organized themselves, besides saving me a lot of time playing phone tag, or listening to laboriously-constructed explanations of grandmothers' funerals, etc.

11. I don't want one
I need peace and quiet when I am away from work so that I can re-energize for another round. A cell phone would screw that up. Besides, the people I really want to talk to are with me all the time anyway.

12. pretty much
I have one to use for emergencies but don't take calls on it. And people leave me messages on my answering machine at home but I will listen to the messages oh, I dunno, a couple times a month :D

13. No cell phone here
its not because we dont' need/want one...I would like to have one, but there is zero signal at our house...and I refuse to pay for a cell phone, where I have to drive half a mile away, in order to use it. I gave up my sprint phone because there was 0 coverage at our home...
