Guess what we're having for dinner?


On pasta. With onions and shredded cheese. Yummy, crappy goodness. There goes my hour-long workout.

Ah, that looks yummy!

Some times you just have to have stuff like that, you know?

And, for once, I know what we're having for dinner!

And why is that?

Because it's already in the crock pot!

We call it smothered steak......sliced top sirloin, covered with sliced onions, sliced red bell pepper, a can of mushrooms and a can of stewed tomatoes....

On high for an hour, and then low for the rest of the day......

It really smells good, too!

Tonight, I will make a pot of rice to serve it on!

It really is as good as it sounds......and talk about easy!

OH, I forgot to mention one detail, which I consider optional:

You can toss the sliced top sirloin in some flour before placing in the crock pot.......

The slices aren't narrow......I make them rather chunky, myself....

29. We got our first crock pot last Christmas.
We usually make a pot roast and whatever we have leftover we add some noodles to make it last even longer.

but we're having brown rice (short grain) with tofu, mushrooms, and onions in a Thai garlic-chili pepper sauce.

(And I'll have it for lunch tomorrow, too, if my husband doesn't inhale it all.)

42. It is in olive oil right now...
will add fresh garlic, rosemary, fresh black pepper, sea salt and a dash of red wine (pinot noir) 1 hour prior to cooking on a very hot cast iron pan (medium-rare).

Actually, it's very easy to make. I added baby bells at the end. Smells just wonderful! For the wine I used Pinot Grigio.


French Chicken in Vinegar Sauce

Tip: Buy boneless, skinless chicken thighs, or ask your butcher to bone and skin them for you.

Olive oil-flavored cooking spray
2 1/2 cups coarsely chopped onion
8 (3-ounce) skinned, boned chicken thighs
1/2 cup dry white wine
1/2 cup fat-free chicken broth
3 tablespoons tomato paste
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1 teaspoon minced fresh or 1/2 teaspoon dried tarragon
1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon red pepper
Tarragon sprigs (optional)

Coat a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray; place over medium-high heat until hot. Add onion; cook 5 minutes or until lightly browned. Add chicken; sauté each side 3 minutes or until browned.

Combine wine and next 8 ingredients (wine through black pepper) in a medium bowl; stir well. Add wine mixture to chicken mixture; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 20 minutes.Garnish with tarragon sprigs, if desired.

Yield: 4 servings (serving size: 2 thighs, 1/2 cup sauce

His dad sends us care packages every now and then. I like it better with spaghettis than on the hot dogs. The taste stays with you for days. No matter how much you brush your teeth, you're reminded of what you ate the night before.

82. I had Shabu Shabu
A kale based soup with bean sprouts, napa cabbage, glass noodles, shitake mushrooms, paper thin beef, mochi, and udon noodles in a miso based sauce. We cooked it at the table with our portable gas burner.

Tomorrow we will eat the leftovers served over rice with some eggs. Mmmmm. Japanese food is pretty damned tasty.
