I need some music help
I'm wooing a girl named Virginia, and I want to find a song with her name in the title, or at least featured prominently in the lyrics, and, if at all possible, a place to download it. And I know you're all thinking "Sweet Virginia" by the Stones, but, great though it is, it's a bit too raunchy for me to use for courtship purposes. Thanks!

2. Hmmm...
I thought about that, too. You don't think it'd seem like I was calling her an unpredictable bitch?

4. I think it's a cute song...
It says she's beautiful. Lyrics:

She doesn't own a dress
Her hair is always a mess
If you catch her stealin'
She won't confess
She's beautiful.

Smokes a pack a day
Wait that's me, but anyway
She doesn't care a thing about that, hey
She thinks I'm beautiful.

Meet Virginia

She never compromises
Loves babies and surprises
Wears high heels when she exercises
Ain't that beautiful?

Meet Virginia

Well she want's to be the queen
And she thinks about her scene
Pulls her hair back and she screams,
"I don't really want to be the queen!"

Daddy wrestles alligators
mama works on carburetors
Her brother is a fine mediator
For the president.

Here she is again on the phone
Just like me; hates to be alone
We just like to sit at home
And rip on the president.

Meet Virginia

Well she wants to live her life
And she thinks about her life
Pulls her hair back and she screams,
"I don't really want to live this life!"

She only drinks coffee at midnight
When the moment is not right
Her timing is quite
Unusual

You see, her confidence is tragic
And her intuition magic
And the shape of her body, (? not sure about this line ?)
Unusual.

Meet Virginia
I can't wait to
Meet Virginia,
Yeah.

5. Yeah, I like it
It's just, you know that feeling when you're trying to ask someone out when you're petrified of fucking up, and you begin to worry they'll get upset by things they probably won't? Oh well.

6. This would be the first asking out? Hmm...
You might actually want to stay away from songs with her name, come to think of it. My best friend's name is Mandy, and...well, she's not a huge fan of that song, to put it lightly. Mostly because people sing it to her ALL THE TIME. Your Virginia might have had the same experience. She might loathe all the songs with Virginia in the title.

8. You have a point.
Part of this is because I sing to myself a lot, and I'd like to have something to remind me of her if this works out. I dunno. Maybe I'm jumping the gun. She's always nice to me, she talks to me a lot and she hugs me (I'm in high school), so I figured this might be one to act on. Thank you all for your help.

10. She hugs you? Yeah, I think you're picking up what she's putting down. :)
I say go for it, direct and polite is the best way. "Can I take you to dinner/coffee sometime?" And then follow up and make the plan yourself. "Let's hang out" is immature.

Good luck. I hope it works out. :)

3. "Only The Good Die Young" By Billy Joel
Edited on Mon Jan-08-07 02:28 PM by Jokerman
Although I don't know if it is suitable for courtship.

Come out Virginia, don't let me wait
You Catholic girls start much too late
aw But sooner or later it comes down to fate
I might as well be the one

well, They showed you a statue, told you to pray
They built you a temple and locked you away
But they never told you the price that you pay
For things that you might have done.....
Only the good die young
thats what i said
only the good die young x2

You might have heard I run with a dangerous crowd
We ain't too pretty we ain't too proud
We might be laughing a bit too loud
aw But that never hurt no one

So come on Virginia show me a sign
Send up a signal I'll throw you the line
The stained-glass curtain you're hiding behind
Never lets in the sun
Darlin' only the good die young
(woah x5 )
i tell ya
only the good die young x2

You got a nice white dress and a party on your confirmation
You got a brand new soul
mmmm, And a cross of gold
But Virginia they didn't give you quite enough information
You didn't count on me
When you were counting on your rosary
(oh woah woah)

They say there's a heaven for those who will wait
Some say it's better but I say it ain't
I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints
the Sinners are much more fun...

you know that only the good die young
oh woah baby
i tell ya
only the good die young, X2

You say your mother told you all that I could give you was a reputation
Aww She never cared for me
But did she ever say a prayer for me? oh woah woah

Come out come out come out virgina dont let me wait,
You catholic girls start much too late
Sooner or later it comes down to fate
I might as well be the one,
You know that only the good die young

I'm telling you baby
You know that only the good die young
Only the good die young
Only the gooooooooooooooood
Only the good die young
Only the gooooooooooooooood
Only the good die young
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooo oooooooooo...

(Only the good die young)x2

12. The Rembrandts maybe.
Now is time-The time is now, for you to see
In my life, is where I long, for you to be
I need a love that has no ending
Virginia on that I'm depending
DON'T LET ME GO-SWEET VIRGINIA
DARLIN' LET ME IN YA-IN YOUR HEART
DON'T LET ME GO-SWEET VIRGINIA
DARLIN' LET ME IN YA-IN YOUR HEART
Sweet Virginia
Life is high-Life is low, and this I know
You can't hide, behind the clouds, so let it show
Take me back to the beginning, to where the sun is always shining
(CHORUS)
I need a love that has no ending-Virginia on you, I'm depending
(CHORUS)
Sweet Virginia
Sweet Virginia

Just so I know what to search for.
