DAMMIT. Been waiting a long time. Nearly had it a few seasons ago and Dusty Baker pulled my boy (Russ Ortiz) outta the game and we ended up losing it. - - - Not that I'm holding a grudge or anything.

33. The SAME Russ Ortiz the Dbacks fans nicknamed 'Donut Boy'?
The SAME Russ Ortiz that was the WORST trade the Dbacks ever made? In fact, the worst trade ANY team has ever made?

Man, the Dbacks get taken at every turn. Now the management gives us the Big Unit II. arrrggghh!!!

The only thing I can look forward to this season is watching Cy Young award winner Brandon Webb! :)
Well that and seeing my Dbacks kicking some Giants ass! :P
In the spirit of sportsmanship good luck to your team! :hi:

35. Yes - that's my 'Russy' -
he's had a roller-coaster of a career - but the Giants were winning what would have been the final game of the series and Russ was pitching phenomenally - I don't know WHY Baker pulled him out and put in the closer - who ultimately lost the game making us go into the final game and we lost the Series.
Dammit!
Oh well.

When Russ is 'on' he's tremendous. He's also a great guy on/off the field. My daughter worked for the Giants and said he was one of the nicest guys on the team and would do anything for the community and kids. They still keep in touch. I would hope that he returns to the Giants - just for old times' sake for me.
Good luck in the upcoming season. We have Barry Zito - but with the Giants' past history - who knows what will happen. Especially with that clown Bonds.

37. Dbacks fans had no complaint about Ortiz as a person,
it was his pitching that we couldn't stand. But if you'd like him back in a Giants uni well.... the Dbacks would be more than happy to take what would amount to batting practice off him! :)

Hey look what happened with Baker! I know some Cubs fans that are sooo happy he's gone! He made many bone-headed moves with the Cubs too! Has any team picked him up yet?

What's up with Bonds return? I thought for sure the Giants would dump his steroid-filled self. Can he still start in LF with his bad knee or is he just a backup (and a very expensive one at that)?

38. It will be interesting to see what Bonds will be able to 'produce' this year in terms
Edited on Tue Jan-09-07 02:27 PM by Bullwinkle925
of both defensive and offensive playing. They signed his ass to put people in the seats this year hoping he'll break the all-time hr record. If I had my way - it would be "You can tell Him Goodbye!".
My daughter said that even the players don't care much for him while she was there. He's arrogant and is not much of a team player - both on and off the field. Doesn't mix with the rest of the team at all.
But, Peter McGowan likes him and keeps him around for the profits.
