Any Insurance (auto) company recommendations?
I'm with State Farm, but I get so many offers to check the rates of other companies that I'm beginning to wonder if I can't save some money by going with another company. OTOH, I don't want to end up saving money on rates just to have claims turned down.

Any good experiences out there?

1. are you a homeowner?
i would advise you to check first w. whoever is insuring your home, sometimes you get a discount on having both w. the same company, additionally if a disaster hits texas, they might be less likely to drop your homeowner's if you have both insurance thru the same company, this is what transpired in louisiana

if you are not a homeowner you have a lot more freedom to just shop the price

2. I switched from Farmers to AAA.
Both Auto and homeowners'. I saved a bundle (+50%). But I also have never filed a claim in twenty years.

7. I'll probably switch too.
State Farm isn't bad, but got very miffed when they left MN - having taken advantage of generous tax breaks and not bothering to stay once they had to pony up like every other business in their neighborhood.

Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there? Nuh-uh...

Pigs. :(

8. I've had them for years -- great rates and customer service
Plus, they often give discounts if you belong to certain professional organizations. I got 15% shaved off my rate because of that.

10. It depends.
If you get quotes from other companies, be sure to ask how long those rates will last.

I don't think much of State Farm, that's for damned sure. I think their claims department is run out of a prison, for all the compassion and competence they show.

12. We've been with Allstate for over twenty years and have always
been happy. We had two major claims over the years, one with a drunk driver uninsured who hit us, another where the accident was my husband's fault. They covered all the damages, etc. and although our rates went up somewhat, it wasn't a big deal.
