He's been out sick since October and I've only been able to talk to him a couple of times. His wife is a VP with the company but she's pre-occupied with a side business so we are basically rudderless. I report directly to him so now I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be working on. I have my daily routine but normally I do research and special projects for him. He's a great guy and I miss his companionship in the office as much as I think we need him to guide the company.

I can't imagine working here if my boss is not here.
So, I have an idea of how you feel.
