One of my cats is a pussimist.
He's pussimistic: He not only thinks his food bowl is half empty when its half full, but he thinks its all empty when its clear full.

Yesterday we bought two big bags of dry cat food. I left them on the kitchen floor next to the big can that I put the stuff into and left it. Some time in the night he clawed a hole through the bag and this morning there was cat food all over the kitchen.

Don't call the ASPCA just yet (my cats have them on speed dial).

The two food bowls I left out were still completely full.

OK, the little guy has cause to worry, I guess, skinny little thing that he is. (belly draggin 20pounder). Now he's yelling because I put the food in the can.

Whatcha gonna do?

1. Been there. Done that.

Or, more accurately, my cats employers have done that. Once I found the cat food bag shredded asunder and food scattered about. Another time I discovered they had figured out how to get the lid off the large Tupperware container in which I usually keep the food. The container was turned on its side and food was all over the floor. I am considering getting a safe.

3. I keep the food
in a "raccoon-proof" container and in another room with closed door. The cats haven't learned to open the door yet.

5. I don't know who the culprit is
but I buy cat food by the 40 lb bag, and I have two empty cat litter plastic containers that I use to store the food in.

If I don't put the food in the plastic containers right away, during the night (or day), one (or maybe two, I don't know) of them gnaws thru the bag and leaves a trail of cat food all on the kitchen floor.

Maybe they think I'm Hansel. Or Gretel. And need a trail of crumbs to follow my way home.

Oh yeah -- they food bowls are almost NEVER empty.
