Have you ever shared so much of yourself with someone...
...you regretted it, later? Secrets, and inner-most thoughts...things you wouldn't even tell a therapist?

Wouldn't you think, by my age, I'd know better?

Do you think I'll be the only one laughed at, in the afterthought, for my stupidity?

Well, at least I've been reminded- once again- what a special friend and confidant, I *do* have...in my husband.

Things could have been worse...much worse.

One just never knows about people...do they?

That is all.

1. My dear KC2..........
I think I've been lucky in that regard.........

Everyone, and I do mean everyone that I've shared my deepest secrets and biggest wishes with has been wonderful to me.......

No-one has betrayed my trust, no-one has ridiculed me, no-one has tried to hurt me.......

I am so damn lucky with my friends....aren't I?

I'm sorry it hasn't worked out that way for you, my dear friend.......

:loveya:

2. Thats the same boat I'm in basically...
a few times, I felt embarrassed with my self-disclosure, but it was always for the best intentions...

4. Yes
What can make it even worse is when, in the wake of not being open enough and having had relationships (of whatever kind, no matter how cursory) suffer for it, you decide to alter tack and go with more disclosure, only to pay the price for it.

Somewhere between not trusting (or keeping your innermost thoughts and feelings to yourself) and total openness (or something like it) is the perfect approach...but it changes by the moment, with different people such that, in the end, you really do "never know about people." It can be hard to trust again, and hard to bare your soul again, but we'll never really know the fullness of love until we do, and there's the rub...

6. Oh, sweetie.

BIG big hugs for you:

I'm with you in this. I trusted one time too many, and in a situation where I really should have known better. In retrospect, the red flags were there but I chose to ignore them and hope for the best... so I have no one to blame but myself. Still, it is reprehensible how callous some persons can be with another's heart, how easily they toy with one's affections, how skillfully they manipulate one's reality, how readily they abandon the genuine love they cultivated.

We didn't deserve this, KC2.

I'm sorry you're hurting.
