Now if you had said scungilli or conch I'd say that's a little odd. Sea urchin roe (uni) is the best thing going, however.

44. Veal hearts
When I was a kid,, when my grandparents came to visit, my grandfarther would make his specialty - sweet and sour veal hearts with these really great dumplings that were huge and smothered in brown butter. The veal hearts were also served with ginger snaps.

I also like pickled watermelon rind, pickled onions and pickled herring.

It probably doesn't count as "weird" but I like game such as venison, pheasant and rabbit.

Several butchers here specialize in it.

I like venison stew, sausages, steaks. I like pheasant, too.

But I really like pickle juice. That is my favorite weird food. When the pickles are gone, I like to drink the juice. Sweet or dill, pickle juice is good.

He went deer hunting for many years, and we always had plenty of venison sausages and venison "hamburgers" as well as roast venison to eat.

He used to go rabbit hunting too but we only ate rabbit a few times because neither my sister nor my mother liked it much.

71. "But hey, to each his own..right?"
Well I certainly don't go around telling everyone else to eat offal, although a good case can be made for doing just that. That argument is along the lines of, if you are going to kill an animal then you might as well use the whole animal and not let anything go to waste.

However, were I to start making that argument things would surely go a little bit GD-ish on here, and I don't think that I really want that sort of flame war on here, not even over whether Marmite is better the Vegemite!

74. Would that be Jellied eel's?
gor blimey! strike a like and no mistake! Down here in Essex we have quite a few Pie n' mash shops, which of course all sell Jellied Eels.

http://www.icons.org.uk/nom/nominations/jellied-eels

When David Beckham moved to Real Madrid in 2003, what was it about England he admitted to missing the most? The clothes shops? The hairdressers? No — it was good old jellied eels. This dish — as symbolic of London’s East End as Pearly Kings and Queens — has been around since the 18th century. It consists of fresh eel slices, boiled in herbs and vinegar and served in their own jelly, usually with mashed potato and peas. East London used to boast scores of jellied eel and pie and mash shops, and although most did not survive into this century, a few are still going. Jellied eels can still be bought from fish stalls in some English seaside resorts.

My favorite take on Clamato is from Richard Jeni:

"Tomato juice and clam juice together - and you drink it. Notice I said YOU drink it. It's disgusting! What's next, apple juice and fish juice?? No, it's not fishy enough - why don't you swizzle a herring in there, you sick psychopath???"

I'll drink V8 at any temperature, but I won't go near Clamato.

it was seasoned like sauerbraten and she served it (sliced thin) over dumplings with sauteed onions.

57. durian fruit
It stinks (not to me) but it tastes delicious.

I also like tater tots but I will only eat them dipped in vanilla ice cream, which I'm told is weird. It's a perfect stoner snack though, good combination of sweet and salty and hot and cold.

Now THAT'S weird.

I love scrapple on a Saturday morning with eggs and hash browns - crispy on the outside and still a little mushy inside. MMMMmmmmm.

59. pickled herring..
Not the creamed stuff in the jar. You have to buy the stuff in the vinegar brine, drain it THEN add your own fresh cream or sour cream. Douse liberally with cracked pepper and serve on toasted french bread.

It freaks my mom (a retired nurse) out if I tell her I've eaten sushi recently-I then get a lecture about the health risks of consuming uncooked fish that make me wish it was yet another anti-smoking lecture. I'm 42, after all.

Lox is one of my favorite things to eat when I crave salt.

96. Do you like to go for Dim Sum? That is where we
get chicken feet. They also serve duck feet and duck tongue.

The only way I could get my Dad to go to Dim Sum was to promise him he didn'thave to eat chicken feet. To him, chicken feet was something you only ate if you were poor during the US Depression. He's been to Dim Sum several times with us now and we just politely wave on the chicken feet.

121. I ate tripe ("trippa") in Rome last fall
It was cooked in a tomato sauce and served over pasta. It was okay if you could get past the rubbery consistency, but it won't ever be my favorite Italian dish.

They also have pig cheek in Rome. It's great, but of course it is just a variation of pancetta (bacon).

We ate plenty of raw eggs in our days and never got sick. Admittedly, I haven't eaten any lately and I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to try it now.
