Giant Sky Banana To Fly Over Texas

TORONTO -- It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's a giant banana!

Montreal artist Cesar Saez wants to fly a monster banana balloon over Texas late next year. Saez said his banana will be 985 feet long.

He plans to launch the huge banana in Mexico and have it float over the U.S. border. He figures the banana balloon should stay aloft for up to a month.

Saez said he needs $1 million for the banana project and he's got about an eighth of that amount.

So why fly a giant banana over Texas? Saez said, "Why not?"
