I've been able, through the miracle of DVR, to catch 8 or 9 back episodes.

I'm lovin' it!!!!!!!

I think I like Hell's Kitchen better, partly because not everyone on that show has extensive cooking experience - but on the other hand, part of the coolness of Top Chef is that they do all have extensive cooking experience, so the food they prepare has a tendancy toward being amazing.

Some truly extraordinary stuff has been made in this show.

Great fun!!!

And I have to admit, as much as Michael is the kind of surfer ignorant shitbag that I normally despise, he has a wonderful childish charm - a zenlike non-mind that makes him quite impressive. I also like Sam a lot.

And I'm so fucking glad that Frank got bumped - swear to God, I bet that guy is a Jesus Crispy, and I bet he's a totally closeted self-loathing gay, like so many of the Jesus Crispies. He just had that salesman "I'm your best friend (first name)" attitude that so many of the Jesus Crispies have, and he has a certain closeted gay aspect that so many of the closeted Jesus Crispies have. I hope he finds freedom and a church (like the UCC) that will allow him to be as gay as he was made to be. Until then, he's just goddamned annoying.

I also like the Mexican woman a lot.

I hope it comes down to her and Sam.

1. I adore Top Chef! (New episode on Bravo at 10pm tonight).

My DVR recorded a marathon of last season, too. It was also good.

Elia is my favorite. I hope she goes against Marcel. I am amused by his pomposity.

Betty (loud blond) annoyed me a great deal.

Part of me would like to see Marcel at the end, as well - he certainly is good. But he also, as Betty so wonderfully constantly pointed out, IS a complete fuckwit.

3. I'm watching the superfat kids episode now - so sad that parents let it happen.

Some of those are just goddamned huge. Their parents should be nailed for child abuse for allowing their kids to get that fat. Disgusting. And so very, very sad.

But, at least the parents finally had the good sense to get the kids into a diet program.

But seriously - for the love of God, how can a parent let their kid hang out at morbidly obese until the kid is 10 or 12 or 14 years old without fucking doing something?

4. Those kids are the lucky ones.

Some kids can gain weight very quickly. If adults can gain 7 pounds over a holiday season, I can imagine that a child (needing less calories) could gain a lot of weight in just a semester or so.

These kids are lucky that their parents can shell out a couple of thousand to help them lose weight.
