We had our worst blizzard since 1955 yesterday.
Like an idiot I went to work, there where abandoned cars all along the freeway on the way home. It took me 45 minutes to shovel my car out this morning. Today the office is half empty, the boss bought pizza for us dolts that showed up. I shoulda stood in bed.

1. You should have stayed in bed!
It looked hellish there. We got it pretty bad, but not like you. I saw your cops and EMT's were using snowmobiles to get through!

It was -35 here last night. It's hovering around -25 now, but bright and sunny. What about there?

2. It was eerie driving on the freeway on the way home,no traffic, just abandoned cars.
Like some kind of apocalyptic movie. I drove slow, when visibility got to zero,I just coasted til I stopped. Once when it cleared there was a dead car right in front of me.

8. Ah, but if you're moving to Calgary
you'll get Chinooks. Lucky, lucky, lucky - unless you get migraines.

There's no way I could deal with heat like that. x(

10. I had migraines years ago,
but haven't had one in years. Maybe God is giving some respite from the MS in only allowing me to deal with one thing at a time. I just cannot handle the heat anymore. I used to garden in 104 degrees and not even feel it (as long as I had my sunblock and about a bazillion bottles of water).

My garden looks like a jungle now, after a year and a half of no attention.

I'm REALLY hoping we end up in Calgary. We have family near Edmonton, but all our friends (except for dear u4ic) are in Calgary. And it was where we fell in love, so I have a special fondness for it. I think it would be the COOLEST thing in the world to actually go see Shakespeare in the Park during the summertime at Prince's Island and not worry about the heat melting you from the inside out (which we do here). I literally have to sprint from the house to the car during the summer now.

We'll have to have a drink when we get up, though! :hi:

3. Where in Canada?
How efficient are Canadian road services at clearing snowed-out roads? Similar to the Twin Cities?

4. Saskatoon.
Everything was open the next day,but in zero visibility the crews didn't even go out. The weather office rated it a blizzard from 3AM to 9PM. It's a blizzard if there is over 4 cm of snow with 90kph winds. This one at it's peak was 120kph with 10cm of snow.

9. I know a couple of women who live in Saskatoon.
They were posting about how awful the storm was. One went to work and had to leave early and though it was difficult, she got home ok. The other one didn't have to go out so she didn't.

6. As a footnote. If your car gets stuck or stalls, stay with it.
Someone will rescue you. The only people that died here (there were three of them) were the ones who tried to walk for help, leaving their vehicle.
