Movies with snipers in them.
How many movies and tv shows have been amde where the good-guys are looking for a sniper, in anticipation of a nick-of-time happy ending?

In how many of those shows is the sniper given away by his gun barrel spotted pointing out a window?

Couldn't you set your sniper position way back in a darkened room, away from the window? Then the only way you'd be found-out is if someone was looking for you at the same altitude you're on, and only if they happen to look inside the room you're positioned in.

1. Don't forget the sniper being
Shot through the scope lense by the hero. I can't tell you the number of sniper movies that have that particular scene in it (Saving Private Ryan, Sniper, etc.)

3. "Shot Through the Heart" sidestepped that one nicely
Shoot the fucker when he's leaving his house. Pwn3d.

Actually, it did have the same type of scene, but the sniper was being tracked by another sniper who understood where he would set up. Away from the window? Then you can't fire down on the ground. You've never done this before, have you? Look out your balcony door. How far back could you position yourself and still be able to hit a pedestrian on the street?

7. Well, see....

Okay, if you're a sniper, you go to the target's general vicinity; you don't wait for the target to come to your neighbourhood. Depending on what weapon you're using, it's not impossible to set up up to 1.2 miles away from the target.

You choose the building. Preferably looking up the street from your target's anticipated route. A block or two would be ideal.

You get two ladders and set them up in the apartment/hotel room. You set-up atop one ladder, with the bipod (if you're using one... and you should if you can) resting on a step on the other ladder. You have a pretty decent downward angle, and you're recessed well into the space. Turn the lights out and:

1) you're virtually invisible, and

2) You are in the shade, which makes it easier to use the scope.

6. You know you can get snipers on eBay?
I'm sitting here reading the messages in this thread, then get to the bottom: Sniper. Find what you want on eBay. Huge selection. www.eBay.com.

Which leads to the next question: how do you package a sniper for shipping? Do you put him in a pet carrier and check it as baggage? Maybe pack him in dry ice in a 150-quart cooler? Or do you do the simple and expedient thing and just buy him a plane ticket?

But seriously? If you're a sniper and you're worth a shit, after you drop the first guy you move to a different position if you need to shoot someone else because you know the Wrath of the Furies is gonna come down upon your position after the first guy dies. Or you forgo killing everyone in the place and just shoot the guy who looks like he's in charge.
