Ya know, the kind of news they just won't give you over the phone. Can't they just tell me? Being in his office doesn't cushion the blow any more than being on my nice soft couch.

I hate this. Hate it, HATE IT.

Watch me be up with the sleepless Lounge Lizards tonight.

This is a blatant plea for some ol' fashion Lounge sympathy; have one on me for sharing my misery... :toast:

I EFFING hate this, just in case you missed it before.

1. Don't sweat it. Same thing happened to me. Was a very minor and
treatable anomaly. They always want to see you.

5. Oh, they prolly just want to make sure you take them seriously.
I have a coworker who flunked a stress test and has blood pressure issues so bad his head should have exploded by now. He has a tendency to disregard his doctor's advice and not take his meds when he should. I understand this is fairly common.

P.S. I suppose you realise the irony of staying up all night stressing over flunking a stress test? :7

Hell, I'm an old man.
If it's inoperable terminal cancer can you just go ahead and tell me now so I can go make a HUGE pitcher of Martinis?"

9. Well Hopefully He/She Is Going To Tell You
that you need some treatment that will make you better

or that you are in phenomenal shape (although I doubt you'd have had a stress test if that were the case)

Anyway, here's some good vibes, and the sleepless Lounge Lizards aren't so bad!

11. ?
what's a stress test, is that when they monitor you while you're on a treadmill? I thought those results were in real time. Let me know if you want me to kick your doc's ass if he is causing you, er, undue stress.

12. If it was life threatening
they'd of told you today.......... :)
Try not to worry. Worry is the interest we pay on debts that aren't due yet!

13. Keep in mind, there's a privacy/confidentiality issue as well.
Can your doctor be sure he's not talking to your twin brother, or just someone who sounds like you? That may sound silly, but in professions where client confidentiality is critical, phone communication is frowned on; email even more so.

For example, I won't even give out my students' grades by email, and at most schools, it's against regulations to do so. Think how much more true, then, of medical info.

It's probably not as bad as you're thinking, but still, I can see why it would be upsetting.

15. Man, I hate when they do that.
One time I got a call to come in "right away" after a blood test. Got the call after 5 and it freaked me out. Didn't sleep all night, planning my funeral, Mr. Gray rolling his eyes. I call them the next day, they make me come in there to tell my I may develop a blood disorder sometime in my future based on some while blood cell bullshit.

I have yet to develop any blood disorder and it's been 10 years. Who knows, maybe I will get some blood thing, but that phone call was unnecessary. Idiots.

I hope you'll be ok...in fact, I bet you will be.

17. Oh, hell--now they say it can wait till Monday, so all that fret for what amounts
to nothing all that critical.

I had a kind of "fun" appointment scheduled tomorrow that now I'm able to keep.

Anyhoo, thank you all very, very much. I may call upon you again on Monday, though...

18. Glad to hear it's not as urgent as they made it seem
I hope it's either a) nothing or b) something minor and treatable. Try not to worry... (from the queen of worrying too much, lol).
