When you hear or say "the City"--capital 'C'--which one do you mean?

Me? San Francisco.

1. Well, when we lived in Chappaqua it meant New York - Now it means DC

7. In this part of the USA, I use the City

in reference to Kansas City...back home, the City, was in reference to good old, beautiful Seattle, WA.
