They just shut down my work.
One of my coworkers just called to let me know they just told everyone to go home. Yep. Pretty cool huh? Oh, and I also took a picture.

And I called in this morning. I didn't get out in the mess. Too many idiots out on the roads.

It's sleeting buckets, and I'm at home all cozy warm, waiting for my pizza to get here!

10. I hope you tip really well, because that's cold.
If you're not willing to drive in it, but you're willing to make someone (who gets minimum wage plus the paltry tips) take the risk for you.... That's just cold.

We've had more than a few accidents in our local area involving delivery drivers in substandard vehicles trying to negotiate the roads... and a couple of fatalities.

19. I wrote a haiku a few years ago:
I'm snowed in today
Can't possibly go to work
Where's the pizza guy!

Stay safe and warm. :hi:

4. My company let people go "at their discretion" right before noon.
I came back down May Avenue--wasn't too bad until 63rd Street. South of there, it seemed to be much more frozen up.

I'm worried about how Monday morning will be, but there's nothing to be done about it, so I'll worry about it later!

Stay warm, Duckie--it's definitely not a weekend to go anywhere . . . .

9. Losing power's my biggest fear, but maybe we'll luck out
and get more snow than ice. I'm perfectly happy to watch it from my window.

14. There is no snow in our future.
This is sleet and ice. It's still kind of pretty, but it's a bitch if you have to get out in it.

17. Ice storms suck...
But I do like the way it looks on the trees.

About 15 years ago, we got 3 inches of ice here in DC. When I heard our aluminum-roofed carport make a creaking sound, I suggested to Mr GoG that he might want to move his car. About 5 minutes after he moved it, the carport totally collapsed.

Nasty stuff, ice. You be careful, hon...OK?

18. We won't be leaving the rest of the weekend.
We're prepared. Thanks for worrying. Pizza's on it's way. I'm starving. It will be a good weekend. Also, I'm finally taking down my Christmas tree this afternoon.

20. Wow. It's 65 degrees here and I have the back door open
and sunshine is streaming through.

I've been through some ice storms though. One took our power out for 5 days and the temps dipped into the teens during that time.

Stay warm and safe. :pals:
