but... I've experienced -8 to 112+ in the same place= 120 range that's a lot of extremes in one place, Stillwater Oklahoma

4. Worked in the fields of a high desert ranch with summer temps around 120F

Went swimming in a reservoir at the same ranch one winter night when the thermometer say -16F. Range 136. Sites about a half-mile apart.

It's not uncommon for the temps to get above 100 in the summer and probably hotter with the heat index and I know I've been in below zero temps here in the winter (although not this winter).

107 here in denver. I was driving truck in the twin cities and I had to unload rolls of insulation, outside, without any gloves. I got frostbite that day. I also snapped my brake lines on my trailer by taking too sharp of a turn in the cold.

I finally got to omaha and the temprature there was 0 degrees. After what I went through in the cities, 0 actually felt warm.

Warmest: officially 117 degrees in Tucson, but I got in the habit of carrying a thermometer with me as I knew damned well actual temps in the center of town, over pavement in high traffic was worse than the 'official weather station' in the open at the airport, away from the heat the city adds. Anyway, I measured it at 135 at a bus stop on the corner of Grant and Craycroft at 3PM one day in July a few years back.

The machines we use to avoid the heat create more.

You know what? I LOVED it at that temperature, except when I stayed where there was no AC (not the heat, the humidity. I'm badly allergic to mold). One of my sisters and I, as we walked along a jungle path, agreed that we were feeling either the very best we'd ever felt or the worst. We settled on the best. That's the kind of heat that purifies your body!

33. It'll Do Something To You!

I worked out in the oilfield in Northern Oklahoma in the summer of 1980. It got up around 112 and was quite humid. I felt purified every day. I needed it as every night at that time I was pretty trashed and stayed up all night for the most part many a night. Had a little "help" to make it through the day, but that is never a substitute for sleep. The heat was incredible that summer. I haven't experienced that kind of heat around here since. 108 is about hot as it has gotten here in Fort Smith, and it is more humid here than in Northern Oklahoma. However neither probably compares to the humidity in Costa Rica.

That is a purifying experience I'm sure.

-40 at night in Toronto, Canada, during my first year of school. We had two months in early 2004 when the temp never cracked the -20 barrier. It was damn, damn cold, but I thought it was cool. One time the crappy old heater in my dorm room broke down on a Friday night and it couldn't be fixed until Monday morning. My roommate and I had to sleep in our coats and I wore my Russian hat and gloves to bed. Later somebody said "why don't you just sleep in the common room"? We thought that would be whimping out. By Monday, the *inside* of our window was covered in a sheet of ice.

The 121 day was the day I toured the Hoover Dam, in July 2001. I prefer -40, personally.

On edit: one night in Colorado when I was about eight years old it got down to -62 with the wind chill. I don't know if we're counting wind chill or not.
