You should come up for a visit in the SUMMER sometime. Here in Anchorage where I live, the sun doesn't set until close to midnight and comes up around 4:00 or so, and it never gets completely dark. Your SAD could take a vacation, too. :)

13. I went to Ireland in the month of June

a few years back. I LOVED those long days. I noticed I didn't require as much sleep, didn't mind eating late, and fit so much into a day.

Your right, we should plan to get up there. I love those dramatic landscape vistas. Visited the southwest for the first time a few months ago. The different eco-systems really fascinate me, and Alaska seems to be the most dramatic of them all.:hi:

9. In the dead of winter here in Anchorage

the sun comes up around 10:15 and sets around 3:30 or so. Today the sun rose at 10:01 and set at 4:15. We're gaining about 4 minutes a day now.

15. I've visited in the summer and enjoyed the opposite effect.

I drove up to Inuvik, NWT for a couple days and experienced the midnight sun. Now THAT was disturbing!

My sister lived in Wasilla a few years and lived in Anchorage. She was transferred with her company (Hilton), but has dreams of going back and opening or managing a small lodge. She absolutely loved it there, and it was like she was born for the climate. Our dad was in the Coast Guard, so we grew up on beaches, mostly in warm places, but once she set foot in Alaska, she was in love.
