My sister in law is at the end.
Cancer in her lungs and liver. My brother speaks like it's not happening. Detached. What is he gonna do without her?

2. I'm terribly sorry about that, Swede.
Your BIL's reaction is not unusual amd I don't know if denial of the event will make it harder for him to cope when his wife is gone. Some people seem to shut down and never truly deal with their grief. Hugs to you and your family. I'm sorry.

3. My dear Swede.........
I'm so very sorry.........

How horrifying for all of you.......

I hope she has hospice care for the end.....

All you can do is stand by, and prepare to pick up the pieces........

Let him know you're there for him.......

And do take care of yourself, too.......:grouphug:

5. I would give my life for hers. Seriously.
Edited on Sun Jan-14-07 01:40 AM by HypnoToad
My lungs are decent and my booze consumption is minimal.

I will gladly trade mine for hers.

What's the relevant blood type?

Seriously. PM me. Anything I can do I will, I am not joking or being flippant in any way.

I truly am. I am sending prayers to your SIL, that she pass in the most peaceful way.

And prayers that you, your brother, and all who love her, will find peace.

16. Life is so brutal.
I am very sorry for you all.

Someone I love is going through the same thing with metastatic liver cancer. Too young.

17. Detachment and denial are a couple of ways to cope
of course, they don't work. nothing does.

it'll take time. and support. but mostly time.

no helpful words come to mind. only words like ... shit

18. So sorry Swede...I have a co-worker who was
diagnosed with lung cancer in 2006, she underwent treatments and appeared to be in recovery. She undergoes regular body scans to check for matastisis and they found a tumor on her adrenal gland. I think she's been getting radiation treatment for that.
