She's at Children's Hospital...they transported her on Saturday afternoon and she's supposed to have surgery today, we're waiting to find out exactly when.

She was born at 39 weeks but only weighed 4 lbs 12 oz. She's teeny. On Saturday morning, she was at 4 lbs 9.5 oz but I keep telling myself that losing weight in the first few days is normal. Still...as little as she is, every ounce counts.

She was born with an enlarged heart and what they thought at first was reversed arteries, causing the blood to circulate backwards through her heart. Turns out that the arteries aren't backwards, but she has a hole between two chambers and a blocked valve. A valve that's only supposed to allow blood to leave the heart is, instead, bringing the blood in and, because of the one that isn't working, that valve has to stay open. They've got her on medication right now that will keep it open but they need to go in and repair the blocked valve so that the blood can circulate properly. Yesterday's echo-cardiogram shows that the hole is smaller, so that's good news and the doctors seem to think that they can make the repairs and that she'll be fine.

On Saturday morning when we were on the way to the hospital, we saw a rainbow. The temperature was below zero. I think that's a good sign.

and apparently the hole is smaller. Hope is everything and she's going to be fine. I'm sure of it. She's too gorgeous not to be.

She has an 'elf ear', just like her dad. She's going to hate it when she gets older -- I think that it's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, though. I can't wait until she complains about it.
