Take that, Chowderheads!
Chargers 14, Pats 3.

Next week, Bolts vs. Colts.

Today, Bolts vs. Dolts.

3. Well, they're covering the spread, at least.
Edited on Sun Jan-14-07 06:38 PM by deucemagnet
I got a little better than 5/2 on a straight-up Pats win, and covered the bet with Pats + 4-1/2 points in case they don't win. I've only got about $10 riding on this, but it makes the game a little more interesting. :P

I have a buddy in Boston, Mass. I think doing the same except he's got thousands riding on this. I'm not really a big football enthusiast but watching the Chargers do what they did this year has been fun to watch.

BTW, I never bet on sports.

I just talk trash. :)

The Chargers just lost bigger than New England.

The one near the very end. The Pats got a TD off of it, but there were 2 or 3 turnovers on one drive!

15. I just lost all interest in the playoffs this year.
Chicago?

New Orleans?

Indianapolis?

New England?

Not much there to get excited about.

Back to watching the paint peel for the next three weeks.

22. No biggie. I'm not much of a football fan. Just goofin' around about the
Chargers, which happen to be my home team, because there's been so much Charger mania around here this week.

They have a bunch of young talented players who just choked under pressure today. Worst outing by far this year.

24. The Mania will grip you, won't it? Even if you're not a big fan. Happens everywhere in the world.
Here in the US, it's football or baseball. Everywhere else, soccer.

What is it about sports that siezes people's minds, do you think?

you couldn't drive anywhere without seeing some building with a big "GO CHARGERS" banner on it. I hadn't paid much attention to the NFL season until that happened. Then I noticed - hey, the Chargers are in the playoffs? WTF??? Poof! Instant fan! :)

As for those poor souls who are die-hard fans of some sports team or another day-in and day-out, year after year, well... I can only speculate about how boring their lives must be... - I guess I always had the most pity for those Boston fans who believed in "the curse of the Bambino".

OTOH, I must confess deep admiration for the sheer grace and athleticism of winter and summer Olympic competitors. Some small portion of that is present in football and baseball, I suppose.

And we Patriots fans (such as Mrs R, and by extension me, have to continue to suffer).
