I'm watching the Duke case on 60 minutes right now, and I'm going clear something up for everyone
In America if you ever want to live a happy, fair or prosperous life, please adhere to these two guidlines I live by.

#1. Never ever live in the South.
#2. NEVER EVER LIVE IN THE SOUTH!!

I know, I know, there are nice people in the South and nice places to see, and very metropolitan cities that out class some Northern America cities, but it's still the backwards, ignorant South. It's the Western World's version of Arab Nations. I know they show you pictures of people relaxing at poolsides in bathing suits and other things but, like Arab states, are not progressive, tolerant, seeking enlightenment or anything else that technological advaanced progressive nations. The reason they show you those images is so people will think that they're good people that can be trusted and given your money. That includes sending your kids off to school at southern schools, yes there are pockets of wisdom and knowledge in the South (Samuel E Clemens for instance). For the most part sending your kids off to the South to become enlightened is like going to Saudi Arabia to find Water Parks. I know there are some great Southern DUers on here but for the most part they can verify what I post is true and I apologize to them if I offended them.

1. The Triangle (Raleigh - Durham - Chapel Hill) is actually rather ..
.. diverse -- due in part to the presence of several top-notch universities (at both UNC-CH and Duke, for example, you can probably get as good an education as you can anywhere in the country, and nobody laughs at NC State either. Durham has a long history of union and civil rights activism -- and most people who organized against Reagan's war in Central America remember the Durham-based group Witness for Peace. Both Durham and Chapel Hill are solidly blue, and although Raleigh is a bit more conservative, it has moved somewhat towards the blue in recent years. The Triangle also has one of the higher PhD densities in the nation. There's a significant Hispanic population and several Spanish radio stations.

2. And they also have a corrupt judiciary that is aided by the old south
I know the area is progressive but it's like an oasis. Yeah it's plush with water, wildlife and vegitation but it's still surrounded by unbearingly harsh desert.

3. your comments on corrupt judiciary
apply to many states, though I agree it is a serious problem down south.

However your post is flame bait in its extremism, intolerance, lack of facts--the usual anti-South rhetoric.

And your state --Ohio, is it? Ohio--such a wonderful example of progress and enlightenment.

No corruption in Ohio... :eyes:

Most southerners embrace and embelish their corruption and try to force it upon the rest of the nation.

6 out of 6 statewide officeholders were republicans before the coingate scandal broke out, afterwards 5 out of 6 statewide officeholders were Democrats and the love pug one by 2%. Then again I live in reality while most people try to deny there's.

29. That's an example of the first part of your claim.
Now show me that most southerners not only don't care but encourage corruption and, furthermore, try to force it upon the nation.

24. Ok, imagine this scenario
You're a black man on a cross country trip, if you had a choice between taking it through the southern parts of the United States and the northern parts of the United States, which would you choose. We all have ignorant, backwards, corrupt people in all parts of the US, Hell I'm in Ohio and ever since the year 2000 my state was trying to out do Chicago in corruption. The difference is that when people are faced with obvious injustice, and corruption northerners, westerners and everyone else in the nation we vote the bums out. In the south people re-elect in larger margins then they were elected to in the first place. Now I know this upsets but that's because you're still in the denial stage, and as soon as you move closer to acceptance of the problem you'll feel better.

Have a nice MLK day tommorrow.

When it happens in the North though people usually go to prison for it. In New York City when those cops sodomized that guy with a plunger handle they went to prison, if that happened in the south that would've jump started his political career. Hell if he did it in the south he would have been governor one day.
