Is it me, or is GD looking more like the Lounge tonight?

Just came back from GD..."guys want to shoot other guys," "Laura Bush dresses like a whore," "Fun with tinfoil," etc. What the hell is going on? We seem to be getting a lot of really shallow, frivolous threads in GD, while the Lounge seems to be reflecting less of our baser natures than usual (I'm as guilty as anyone of indulging my basest nature here in the lounge...don't worry, I'm not letting myself off the hook!)

I just think that the level of discourse in GD used to be so impenitrably dense with fact and reason and analysis I found it intimidating at times, and it's devolved into "watch me pee all over everything, guys!" for tonight at least. Is this just a one-night thing?

If you wanna screw around and have fun, stay in the lounge. GD is looking like "Police Academy 3" right now....Irony!


On edit: just noticed all the Britney threads in the lounge....Um, did I say something about elevated discourse? I meant thought provoking analysis. I apologize. (No offense to anybody intended here...)

I just never thought that it would REGRESS once the candidate bashing/promoting threads were removed from GD. Surely there's other stuff to talk about, right?

Granted, there's still a lot of great, thoughtful, intelligent threads over there...but a higher percentage of "loungy" threads than usual tonight.
