I think the first year or two when the show actually focused on Richie, Potsie, and Ralph were the best (and before they brought in a live studio audience that applauded every time a character entered a scene).

If you watch the first 2 years of the show, it has an entirely different feel to it. Once a live audience was brought in for taping it went downhill very quickly. I understand ABC wanted to change the name of the show to "Fonzie's Happy Days" but but the rest of the cast nixed the idea.
