What can I do about a serial litterer? It is bugging me!
Every day there are a couple of new "bud light" cans and McDonald's leavings tossed out on my road. It is a lightly traveled road, maybe 30-50 cars a day. The real kicker is every once in a while the idiot empties his full ashtray out on the road. I can't see the road from my house, the nearest neighbor is a half mile away.
I have thought about a day/night wireless camera but that would be expensive and might get stolen if noticed. I have thought about a "game camera" (the kind hunters use to take snapshots when scouting for dear). The game camera might or might not capture the action I need to see.
I have tried a "stakeout", I got tired of waiting around and quit. I am at my "wits end" and that ain't a far journey!

Another question, what to do when I identify the person? I have thought of three options, two of which I would prefer due to liability issues.

1) Call the Sheriff and insist they arrest the guy for drinking and driving. I would have to get the guy on video just to even talk to the law about it. They aren't too motivated around here.

2) I would be able to find out where he lives if I can identify who it is. I could start collecting the stuff and let it build up for a month. On a weekend morning (3am or so) I could distribute it all in his front yard along with a nice note/sign.

3) My evil plan if I had no concern of any liability; Roofing nails in his driveway, every week until he is too poor to buy beer & McDonald's. (NOTE- I would never do anything like this but I happened to think of it. Other people with looser moral standards may not rule it out)

1. A friend of mine owns rural property that a furniture store was using as a dump.
The idiots would dump pallets and empty boxes (with those syrofoam peanuts, plastic, etc) on his property, with the address labels attached. He let the stuff build up, and he, being a contractor, brought in a front end loader, loaded up the shit into a dump truck, took it to the front door of the furniture store, opened the door, and dumped it in the doorway in their showroom. That ended the problem for him.

I know that you don't have your litterer's name and address to identify him for certain, but I do favor dumping it back in the litterer's yard if you can make a certain identification.

:)

4. No suggestion
I just had to read your message to see whether it was about people who throw garbage, people who let their pets had litters, or kitties who like to dump in different spots. Mystery solved. Good luck on finding a solution.

5. Nails-in-the-driveway was my first response and then I saw #3 !!
But no I'd have to be patient and hope karma will catch up to the loser somewhere down the road. Gotta have pity on pigs like that, he's hopeless, and he's probably doing it everywhere he goes.
Clean up after him, like if you had to live near a monstrous maggot who won't die, we have to learn to share the world with The Stupid.
