It's supposed to go down into the 20s tomorrow night, and I've got spring bulbs sprouting...
If I cover them with leaves, will that protect them from frost?

2. I think a tarp would be better.
The leaves may not cause enough of a seal to trap in the warmth. :shrug:

Helps insulate them from the cold without putting too much weight on them.

You might want to call a local garden store and see what they suggest.

5. I cover my columbine with leaves when we get a cold snap.
It works for them; but they're the native Appalachian variety...accustomed to sudden dips in temperature.

4. As long as the buds aren't up you're okay
You don't even need to cover them. Bulbs are pretty hardy. If the buds are through, though, you should probably cover them.
