I just passed a BIG exam! w00t!

My university has this requirement that you have to prove your Writing Proficiency by the beginning/middle of your Junior year, and I sat for the 3 hour written exam on January 2nd. I'm not good with timed essays, and it was really hard. I had no idea how I did...But, I just received the congratulatory email that I passed!! Over that hurdle! I am soooooooooooo happy! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Now, I can just finish up my major and be done with skool a lil over a year from now. :woohoo:

although I could hardly guess that exam was hard for you - you write very well. Question - is this exam common in schools, because I work with degreed people who are very much lacking in the writing department.

I really don't know, I've never heard of one like this before, and I can see why they do it. It was basically set up where you study 4 essays on a particular topic (in this case AIDS and Language) for a month beforehand, and then you get 2 questions the morning of the exam, pick one, and write for 3 hours straight. Whew! :o

if I had to guess I'd say they are doing it because it reflects very badly on a school to degree a person who does not have a basic grasp on grammar and spelling. It's the first thing I think when I see it: WHERE THE F*** DID THEY GO TO SCHOOL? Yes INDEED!!! :hi:
