Love the show, honestly--I've seen every hour in first-run since the series premiere. I'm one of those rare viewers (well, not really rare on DU, but rare in the country at large, apparently) who recognizes that it's a fictional TV show and not a manifesto for government policy blah blah blah.
I don't mind the strained realism, since no show on TV outside of CSPAN really goes out of its way to be realistic. But two continuing things consistently strike me as inexcusable:
1. Jack Bauer says nukular. I don't care how tough he is or whose ass he most recently kicked; if I worked with him I would summon up my righteous English major fury and stomp him every time he hacked up that mispronunciation.
2. Pretty much every time anyone refers to anyone, the person's full name is used, even if that person was just named a moment before. For example:
Chloe: If anyone can solve this, it's Jack Bauer. Buchanan: Jack Bauer may be resourceful, but this could be beyond him. Nadia: I've read Jack Bauer's file, and if he's half the agent that people claim, then we need Jack Bauer to run this operation. Buchanan: Chloe, get Jack Bauer on the phone.
etc... I've gone whole days without referring to someone by first-and-last name, and even then it's typically because I need to distinguish between two people with the same first name (Missy Jones and Missy Smith, for instance).
Vexing!
