I killed my last deer of the year yesterday.

It was a doe. That makes 2 bucks and 2 does for the year. I could get one more doe but I need to work some overtime at work. I pick up 62 pounds of jalapeno sausage this week at Klein's in Pflugerville, Tx. I will turn in more meat for deer hard salami when I pick up the sausage. The Super Bowl party is going to kick some ass this year.

These 4 were all very healthy. They had a lot of fat on them from me feeding them corn year round. Corn fed deer taste the best.

at least you said you "killed" your last deer of the season instead of saying you went "hunting". I have to laugh everytime my brother and brother in law say they are going "hunting", it's not like the deer are lost and need to be found, when you go into the woods you can pretty much expect to find the deer there so there really is no "hunting" involved. :-)

I legally kill 4 or 5 deer a year here in Tx. I kill the deer, take the meat to get processed, and eat it all year long until the next deer season starts again and I do it all again. People fish and eat fish, and nature's way is way more cruel by starving them to death, so it doesn't bother me at all.

15. Illogical rationalization

If the deer population survives to breed because of you feeding them, then by "nature's way" they wouldn't exist at all because their parents would have starved to death before they were born. Is it more cruel for them never to exist than for you to kill them?

I don't have any problem with you killing them per se - it's just like raising beef cattle. It's just your rationalization that needs some work.

and then I looked over to the right, and there she was. It took about 2 hours for her to show up. She had already weened her 2 yearlings from last year. I ate some chicken fried steak with white gravy out of one of her backstraps last night. Darn good !

No, I have to admit I've never gone hunting. For all intents and purposes I don't even really have anything against it. I just wonder why you call it hunting. You know it's there. If you go into the woods and wait for awhile the deer will probably come to you, so you really don't have to "hunt" for it at all.

The limit is one per day. Plus there are additional deer to be had with various special seasons. You can take well over 100 in a year, if you're good enough. Get these hazards off the road!

Donate the meat to one of the hunger funds that accept deer meat.

I get my stuff made and eat it until the next deer season starts. People don't understand how really healthy it is for you either. It is the only red meat without the bad cholesterol. And it tastes super good too !

We screwed the system up by killing off the predators, so it's our responsibility to take up the slack and cull the herds. Failing to do so is downright cruel to the deer.

And that is the usual excuse for hunting "to cull the herds." And another excuse is to kill off the sick and lame deer. But hunters only go for the young healthy deer.
