1. No otc drugs
Some herbs can work. Valerian root or KavaKava are two. With Kava, you have to be careful about your intake, it could hurt your liver in large amounts.

5. LOL
Kava works better for me than Valarian, but it can be hard to find in stores. I have a great healthfood/vitamin shop called Sherwyn's that I go to.

8. My cat got into a bag of valerian once
Oh my god. I think it has an opposite effect on cats ... sort of like catnip laced with speed and LSD. And he liked it ... had to keep the stuff in a mason jar after that.

It works for me.

22. Calms gets my vote
I was turned onto this one while doing community theatre. It did wonders for stage fright without blunting me at all. My daughter used is for a trans-Atlantic flight because she tends toward some claustrophobia. good stuff.

19. Ask the pharmacist.
If you are in Canada you may have more options than in the USA. Otherwise, you probably need a RX for any psychiatric drugs.

20. xanax, clonopin, and lorazepam are cheap and effective if you can get the script.
I know that benzodiazapines are addictive, but if you have anxiety, I highly rec that you see someone and get a Rx.

Other than that, you are taking chances with roots and WEED's, but some of them work too.

21. I would suggest
...Holy Basil. In 1 1/2 to double doses from whatever the bottle says. This is the only thing that has ever worked for me as completely intended. No side effects. Even other herbs fell flat in some ways for me, whether side effects, or price. And don't get me started on pharma-drugs. Anyway, this stuff...makes you just be able to live, without blunting you, or making you drowsy, or making you feel doped up or artificially cheery. Just makes you feel like yourself on a good day. I take it for the mood effects of a thyroid problem. You do have to take enough though. I was not impressed with it when taking the rec. dose but the vitamin shop ladies said you have to take extra for it to be effective.

You really should try this stuff. It's not "trendy" yet, but, has been used in India safely and effectively for a long time. Some sects over there even worship the plant.

/YMMV, not intended as medical advice, etc, etc, etc.

28. I dont experience much in the way of rage. Anger very rarely. But I guess
it works for all sorts of emotions. Me, mostly fear it fights. And the adrenalin that comes with that and takes over.

It takes a few days to start "working" but then you really notice it. Makes you a little sensitive to sunlight, though. It seems much...brighter.
