I love Will Ferrell movies. Old School, Bewitched, Kicking and Screaming, Anchorman (not so much)...

I got halfway through 'Talladega Nights' and I had to turn it off.

I think it has to do with my lack of patience for southern-impugning humor.

1. I didn't find it very amusing
and I often like Will Ferrell, so you're not alone.

2. I think it might be getting older
I thought the main storyline in "40 year old virgin" was boring. The only places I laughed were during the inter-actions between his co-workers.

And, same with "Wedding Crashers" - some funny moments, but I didn't think it was that good.

But, a ton of people loved the movie.

11. I'm STILL reeling from how unfunny...
..."The 40 Year Old Virgin" was. I had high hopes for that one when I found out that one of the writers from "Freaks and Geeks" (a great TV show) was involved. I got as far as the body waxing scene and I couldn't take it anymore. The scene with the black guy demonstrating how to scope for women in a nightclub while holding your crotch was so unfunny it was almost surreal. A BIG letdown.

21. the best part of 40-y.o. virgin, in my opinion, was the end scene
where they are all dancing around in white singing Age of Aquarius. I thought I was going to burst I was laughing so hard - and that's the entire reason I'm glad I sat through it. Lots of juvenile humor that I really can do without. But the dancing? Loved it.

3. It was too formulatic
It had its moments, but they were pretty weak, and far between. Things that were supposed to be funny were just obnoxious to me. His sidekick, the bake to his shake, or the shake to his bake was funny, and Sascha Cohen did a great job as the French F1 driver.

On the other hand, I think Will Ferrell movies are shit. Anchorman had one good scene, the anchor-fight, and that's it. Old School was terrible. Wouldn't even consider watching Elf.

4. I watched the first half on an airplane
...but did not make it to the second half.

Not funny, IMO, although my then nine-year-old son loved it.

14. It was tempting ...
but I finally decided that reading a magazine was a better alternative to ending my life over a stupid movie. :D

Does that mean "gitter dun" type humor?

24. I thought that kind of humor was meant (however misguidedly) to
be celebrating the South and its menfolk.

9. I didn't find it funny either
I was surprised that NASCAR promoted the film during races and gave them the access they did. Alot of race fans loved it. It's sad, they don't realize the movie is laughing at them not with them.

13. Apparently there's a figure skating movie
a send up, like Dodge Ball. I saw the preveiws today, and I gotta say, it didn't look good at all. I hate one joke movies.

16. Ferrell was okay, but some of the other actors were very funny
I thought Gary Cole as the dad was great as was Sacha Cohen.

I also enjoyed the scene where Ferrell insisted on praying to Baby Jesus.

17. I thought it was one of the funniest movies I have ever seen
perfect pace on the jokes just perfect. It never went weird or nasty. Just fall down hilarious. The outtakes show that they could have made 3 movies out of it.

Different strokes I guess

I might have missed out on some of the jokes.

Can anyone explain the whole thing about the guy interviewing "famous" people in the stands?

20. I loved it
and I hate Will Farrell movies

except for Stranger Than Fiction, which was outstanding.

You can't help it though. You're a good ole boy redneck. You just need someone to explain the jokes for you. That's all.

Now hold my beer and check this out . . .

23. It wasn't a very good movie.
There were a handful of somewhat decent gags.

I got it for free, so I'm not complaining.
