1. I have a funny Salmon Loaf story.
Well, it's actually my wife's story. When she was young (she was the 6th of 7 kids) her younger sister (about 5 at the time) had a cat named Sam. One night they had Salmon Loaf for the first time in the youngests memory. She asked what it was. The oldest brother told her it was "Sam-on" Loaf. She spent the rest of the evening outside looking for her cat.

OK, maybe a little more sad than funny when I tell it, but I always laugh when the wife tells it. Of course I'm a sadistic bastard

5. Kind of a similar story
My friend has a little sister named Libby. All the kids in the neighborhood used to tease her singing - when it says libbys libbys libbys on the label label label you will like it like it like it on your table table table table. But she had never seen the commercial on TV.

Finally one day she saw it - and she went crying to her mother "Now they're making fun of me on Television!"

7. That's funny.
I feel kind of old thinking about how long ago that jingle was around.

2. Salmon Loaf = Teh Evil
My mother tortured me with salmon loaf and salmon cakes at least twice a month while I was growing up. I would be perfectly happy to never have to see it or smell it again. :puke:

6. I never had it growing up.
So it doesn't have negative connotations. But my wife ate it all the time. Her mom used to put Greek olives in it, which I think is a nice touch.

3. I make Salmon cakes
You just get two cans of bumble bee pink Salmon - debone it.

Throw it a couple of slices of crumbled bread - 2 eggs, maybe some chopped up onions or onion powder - makes around 10 patties, brown them up in a frying pan with vegetable oil of your choice.

I grew up eating them and love them. Tho your hands will be kind of salmony for about 24 hours.

8. We grate potatoes, instead of bread
bit of onion, couple eggs, grated potatoes and a bit of flour, mix with the salmon and fry. Yum

10. Okay, anyone remember the...
Monty Python sketch from, "The Meaning of Life" when the Grim Reaper gathers the
guests at the dinner party and the host asks, "What was it?"

The Reaper points to the Salmon Loaf!

The host says to his wife... "I thought you used fresh Salmon!"
She replies... "Well the grocer was out so I used canned."

LOL!

I thought the 'Afterlife mints' on the counter in the swanky Hotel-like Heaven
were a nice touch.
