Verizon Wireless customers: what's this "VIP" thing all about?
I got an e-mail welcoming to the "VIP" program. The link and website appear legit:

https://www.vzwshop.com/nevip/

I just don't want to enter any information if it means I'll suddenly start getting charged for something new I didn't really want. Thoughts?

1. Haven't heard anything about it.

When in doubt, it probably costs something.

2. I would check their regular website
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/index.html

In a quick check of the site, I see nothing about a VIP plan.

Or call them. I never enter anything in links that come from an email unless I'm absolutely sure about it. And I'm a Verizon Wireless customer who's never heard of it.

and find out if it's legit.

I'm a VZW customer and I haven't seen or heard anything about this.

5. Verizon's not informed me of this either
Verizon's not informed me of anything concerning a VIP program either. This sounds like a scam.

7. It is prboably related to the Merits Program

Customers qualify for Merits status if they have had an account in good standing for 6 months, with at least one line at an access rate of $79.99/mo. Some of the benfits are: The ability to upgrade qualifying lines once 12 months, even if on a 2 year contract(2yr contract restarts), free phone books transfers between equipment when changing phones, and 25% off accessories whenever!

By the way, the code gets added to your account automatically. You don't have to "register" to get these benefits. They will only go away if you don't qualify antmore, based on the criteria I described above...
