I think a lot of the revenge fantasies people have about deranged criminals are a little bizarre--this man is obviously very sick in the head, and knocking it about won't fix that. But then I've never dreamed about whacking anyone with a blunt object. I understand people say that sort of thing to express their horror and anger at such crimes, but I wouldn't want to believe that people actually mean they wish to beat somebody up--violence doesn't solve problems, and beating somebody up wouldn't make me feel any better about his/her crimes, for one.

My youngest sister had a pit bull (poor baby finally had to be put down). Tessla was the most wonderful, loving dog. She had infinite patience with my nephew and the neighborhood kids. Never snapped at anyone. Never growled at anyone.
