That's all. Just twenty-seven days until pitchers and catchers report.

Zambrano's asking for $15,500,000.00. I can't even conceive of that much money. They offered 11,025,000.00. What do you think he'll get? I'm guessing 13+.

AND...Sosa's coming back. He's agreed to terms with the Rangers -- Triple-A.

He's promised not to be a distraction.

1. I can hardly wait!
My Dbacks have Randy Johnson back... not sure if that's a good thing or not. Just have to wait and see if the Big Unit still has some gas left in the tank.

I swear there are times when I think 'Gee, if it was summer I would be watching a game right now!'.
Yep, I'm missin' my baseball! :hi:

2. Dude, seriously
it's just baseball. It's not like it is football or anything.

3. ...
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game — it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

Let's see somebody get that poetic about football.

6. Yeah
But that wasn't a "football movie" any more than "Bang the Drum Slowly" was a baseball movie. Both were about friends who happened to be football and baseball players, respectively.

12. Close enough for me.
It was more moving than, say, "North Dallas Forty" or "The Longest Yard" (either version).

13. Both of which were typical of football films
Cold and emotionless.

Well, except for the bits in "North Dallas Forty" with Dayle Haddon. :loveya:

Okay, and when Caretaker was killed in the original "The Longest Yard."

Point being, though, that what was moving about "Brian's Song" had little to do with football. Piccolo and Sayers could've been UPS drivers and the story would be virtually unchanged. The only difference football made was the additional pathos of cancer striking down a rough, tough athlete.

17. Who the hell decided
that 'sox' was a good name for a baseball team? White, red, black or puce...'sox'?

Although I've gotta admit, it's a step up from 'stockings'...

:D

But the only time a sock would scare me is after the game, not during one. :D
