Isaiah Washington from Grey's Anatomy...
Edited on Thu Jan-18-07 07:44 PM by Shell Beau
Should he be punished?

His apparent anti-gay remarks? When asked at the Golden Globes about it, he replied that he never called him a "faggot".

It's like it continues. For that to be such a horrible word, he shouldn't have even repeated it IMO. But should he be punished for it? A petition has apparently been started calling for him to be fired.

1. Yup. I think so.
Because I think he said it and he's a douchebag for saying it.

Hi, Shell!

3. It should be between Isaiah
Edited on Thu Jan-18-07 08:02 PM by bigwillq
and the other guy he called names. And also between them and the producers, etc...

We should have no say what so ever as to what should happen to them. It's none of our business.

It just proves that the guy is an asshole and homophobic.

Should he be fired for it?? Not really my call..I have said some names about co-workers, sometimes to their face, sometimes not and I don't think I should be fired for it.

It doesn't make for the greatest of work environments and I am sure that's the case at this show right now.

Hopefully, the conflict will be resolved.

I have never watched this show but all the media is talking about is this beef.
Gosh, what a poor way for that man to come out of the closet.

4. I have seen just a few episodes, though not enough
to decide how important his role is to the show. I would assume that it probably has caused some tension between him and the others from the show. Especially the guy (his name leaves me now) who is gay. He didn't come out until the original slurs were made.

5. T.R. Knight is his name.
According to rag reports, there is plenty of tension between Washington and Dempsey.

6. Well, I do know that Dempsey's character is a huge part of the show.
I did hear of their issues.

7. He apologized.
But I think that he should be fired. I hate that word.

8. He did apologize.
But then at the Golden Globes, the word just flowed so freely from his lips. While watching the recap, I payed close attention to the guy who is gay (again his name leaves me), and to Patrick Dempsey. They had their heads down. Crazy. True colors and all!!

9. I loved the show, and I am PISSED at him.
Edited on Thu Jan-18-07 10:51 PM by Lisa0825
I would like him to be written off. But I won't sign the petition, because I don't want petitions choosing what goes on TV (remember the Moral Majority getting Soap pulled off the air?).

I had a major crush on Isaiah and loved his character. Now, I find him to be nothing but repulsive.

FWIW, the story is that several cast members witnessed the remark, including Dempsey, and that is what they came close to fighting over. If several people witnessed it, it was cowardly of him to LIE and say he never said it, and then use THAT WORD publicly again. I haven't said that word since I was a kid and didn't know the power it held. I agree with Shell Beau, that it rolled too easily off his lips. He seems too well-acquainted with the word. If he had a decent spine, he'd have said, "I said it. It was a mistake. I didn't realize how hurtful the word was. I learned from the experience, and I hope that TR and the public can forgive me."

I don't care if he apologized before, because now he is denying that he said it. Chickenshit asshole.

11. Right! And why apologize at all if you didn't say it!
Sounds sketchy!
